Hi! Some of you know me... Joanne from Ferret Corner Shelter in Arizona. It's been so long since I've posted on any groups.
I'm still with SOS and still running the shelter. It's "closed" but of course I am still taking in kids.... how can I say no?
Let's see... What all has happened to me since I posted... well... I moved and I'm getting ready to move again after Christmas... still staying in the city... just a different house. Will actually hold all of us!
I got married.... so my new last name is Werstlein. Prounced like "it's the 'worst line' you've ever heard" LOL... hay, that is how hubby told it to me!
Lets see... I have 10 .... no... I have 9 kids.. The day before Thanksgiving we had to let Tonka go to the Bridge. He was battling three cancers and losing. I thought about waiting but we don't have ER care here so he'd end up waiting until the day AFTER Thanksgiving. I'm glad I didn't because by the time we got to the vet he wouldn't stop having seizures.
It's hard... it will never stop being hard...
I have one other baby that is 7+ years old and has insulinoma. He's already had adrenal surgery so not comfortable with him going back in.
Now... I have another boy who is almost 9 years old! yep. Got him from a lady in Tucson who found him wandering. He was whole! He has a gimp leg... but he doesn't seem to care. His teeth are HORRIBLE.. well what he has left. I have to get him in to see what they can do. He only eats baby food. Goes through a jar a day! Such a little piggy! ;D
Have a few other sick kids but they are all doing pretty good. All permanent residents. If I get in any adoptables (which we've had 5 in so far this year) I try to adopt them out from here and if I can't then I place them with the Tucson shelter since they have more people looking for ferrets.
SOOOOO thats my update... oh oh... my marriage also brought in 3 hooman kids. 2 live in Alaska with their mom. The third - 7 year old Breanna is with us full time. She likes most of the ferrets. But their are two girls she stays away from because one is still a bad biter and the other just has major trust issues.
