After Mitten's went to the bridge in January, we decided that we would not get any more ferrets for a long time. We still have Cinnamon and Coogles. Well.....today I was driving down my street going to the store to get groceries. I saw two boys about 9/10 years old riding their bikes and one was pulling a wagon with a cage on it. I drove past them, didn't think to much of it. Then it hit me, there was a hammock hanging in the cage. I turned my car around and stopped them. I asked if they had a ferret in the cage. They said they did. I was horrified, the temperature today was to reach the low 90s. I told them that they should not have their ferret out in this heat. They informed me that they were trying to get rid of the ferret. The one boy had the ferret, parents said to get rid of it. The other boy wanted the ferret but his parents said no. So, what was I supose to do. I asked to see the ferret. They were refering to it as a boy. It was a girl. It's hair is thinning on its tail, maybe poor diet or adrenal. She is little, don't know her age. I could not leave her with them, So I told them that I would take her. I assured them that I have had ferrets for several years and currently have two at home.
My husband was not at home (that's a good thing) so I called his cell and left him a message that God intervined, it was completely not my doing.
I know the timing isn't the best, my husband has been out of work for almost two years, luckly he just got offered a job and will start working in two weeks. I am looking for a job, nothing yet. We also just took in a stray cat that needed medical attention. We talked it over and we agreed to try and find this little girl a good home with someone who knows how to take care of ferrets, but until then she is ours.
I will share photos later.
