Hi Folks, Guess what!? I happened to remember today of a vet clinic in a nearby town. The man who gave me this info several years ago told me this clinic possibly treats ferrets as they deal in many exotic animals. I called them and learned they have two veterinarians who specialize in ferrets. My little Itty has an appointment tomorrow at 2:45 p.m. I am so happy! Praise God!! A Very Happy Mommy GG

When I asked if the clinic sees many ferrets, the gal who answered my call said, Oh, yes! We see a lot of ferrets. I am hoping for a permanent vet for my Ozzie and Itty. One that is close to home and quickly accessible when needed. I'll feel so much better once Itty is diagnosed and I'm given a means of treating her. There are times when she hardly eats at all now. Her waste is normal though, so I know she's not suffering from a blockage. Hugs, Mommy GG

Greta, I am so happy you may have found a ferret vet close to home! I checked with a vet close to where I live and they recommended the vet I already go to and he is about an hour away. He is so worth the trip. I was hoping to find one closer. We do have an emergency clinic not far from here that will do in a emergency when our vet is not open. I hope the vet you found turns out to be great.

Thanks so much, everyone. The vet in Holland that has been seein my fur babies is the best I've ever seen. But the 140 mile round trip is both taxing and expensive. I'm trusting that these local vets really know their stuff when it comes to ferrets and that Itty will be a whole lot better by this time tomorrow night. If she has insulinoma, the pred will do wonders for her and quickly, too. I'll keep you all posted as Itty's visit and treatment progress. Mommy GG

I hope the new vets are good ferret ones...it's always a relief to find one close to home. I'll keep Itty in my prayers...maybe it's a tooth that is bad.

Thanks again. I don't think Itty has a bad tooth, FT. She won't even eat her soup except on rare occastions. She will lick it off my finger, but the soup is too liquid for her to get much nourishment that way. I'm praying and hoping this is something the vet can fix during our visit this afternoon. Itty soiled the safety net last night (this was a first) and mommy bathed her little back end to make sure my little girlie's fur isn't all stuck with poopy. My baby is getting so weak now, she barely holds her head up. Praise God for this afternoon's vet appointment! I scruffed her yesterday and tried to introduce some Karo syrup into her little mouth, but Itty didn't yawn and her teeth were tightly closed. I may try rubbing her gums with the Karo before we leave for the vet. Please keep my baby in your fervent prayers. I will continue to keep you posted. Mommy GG
