If you guys know me then you know my moms little dog Loopy. She gets so happy and excited when I come over and she runs out and punches me in the leg. She's only 10 pounds but she fierce. Well, yesterday when I got there she came over to me at the car, but she was walking slow with her tail down and just looked like she didn't feel good. She didn't want her treat when she came inside.
We all came over to my house, basically our daily routine, and she just kept looking down and out. I fed her a couple bites of cheese and she ate them, but still looked miserable.
I turned her on her back to see if she was coming into heat, and she wasn't swollen, but I put just the tiniest bit of pressure under her girl part and a little drop of blood came out.
Call the vet, she said come in right away. She did a microscope smear and said she had a uterine infection that was beginning to abcess and the treatment for that is a spay. I've never heard of spaying a 9 year old dog, but my mom says it's like when she found out she had cervical cancer~ sometimes your parts just go bad.
So Loopy spent Tues. night at the vets, had her surgery today, and Dr. Weiss said it wasn't as advanced as she had expected and Loopy did great~! We went to visit her today but as the vet tech put it, 'she's still a little drunk' lol. She was sleeping but she recognized our voices and when I called her 'ya ya' she wagged her tail and tried to stand up.
We get to pick her up tomorrow at 4pm, I can't wait. Mom isn't sleeping without her. All together with a $40 off coupon and her senior discount it was still $300. We racked our brains about coming up with the money, me on unemployment and mom on disability, and then mom remembered the line of credit we have at our credit union, we got a $300 extension and nobody has to go without food for the rest of the month~!
I'm sure she'll be fine, but plz keep Loopy in your thoughts
