GOd works in mysterious ways for sure. If we had bought the two little babies, we wouldnt have had room for this litle angel who came to us tonight. The ad said they didnt have time for this two yr old girl and they wanted 150 for her with all her supplies and cage. The ad was on Kijiji a few weeks ago and he was asking 250. We figured she would make a good cage mate for Wilma who has a huge cage all to herself and is also 2yrs and very tiny. I knew she was malmourished as soon as I saw her and that made me even more determined to take her. She needs me. I didnt realize till after we got her cage set up and put her down that like Fred when we got him, she is falling over when she walks. On picking her up I realized JUST how badly she is malnourished. I can feel her ribs. She ate like a horse and drank alot of water. She walked around a bit then decided to curl up in a new pouch I put in her cage for her. When I was setting up her cage , I found that the water bottle was filthy as was her food dish. THey were using clay cat litter as well. She also had no idea what a rasin, or licorice or even feretone was. She did show intrest in the others when they were out playing watching from her cage. I am very worried abotu this little one. will see what tomorrow brings and if need be will contact the vet. Fred fell abit and he and Wilma were bioth underweight when we got them and both have grown and are doing great so I hope I Can bring this little darling around. Also she was never let out to play. SHe was held occasionally and thats it. I am so angry at this guy I could spit. Hes nto even sure how old she is. He got her 4 months ago from people he says treated her badly. Please say a prayer for my little Lily. I am determined to do all I can for this little one. I am sooooo glad I had the room for her! I hoep to God I am not in for heart break. I am going first thing tomorrow to get the fixings for duck soup, but will check in here first in case anyone has any other additional ideas.

Poor little Lily! Prayers are coming your way for her recovery. Please rethink the raisin & licorice treats, however. Not only for the tooth decay factor, but insulinoma down the line. Sad to say, I learned from personal experience.
Please give her gentle hugs from our crew.

Shadoe, Dear, Bless you for rescuing this little one. It does sound like she came to you just in time. Lily may not accept the duck soup at first, as it doesn't sound as if she's ever had any special attention until she came to you. If Lily turns away from the soup, put some on your finger and hold it to her mouth. Often this will get a fuzzy introduced successfully to a new food. Ferrets imprint on their food within the first 6 months of their lives. They have to be familiarized with new food offerings after that age usually. Also, it does sound like a good vet check is in order for your little one. The vet may find problems you're not aware of. Please keep us posted. You and Lily are in my prayers. Hugs, Greta

If she wasn't let out of her cage her muscles in her little legs may need to build up that could be one of the reasons she falls over poor baby. Many good thoughts for your precious Lily.

Thanks so much guys. I feel this little one really needs our prayers and lots of love. Update in new post after I get the duck soup made and try her on it. Just a note though. She is much more alert this morning.

It's so good to read Lily is much more alert this morning, gf. I think your tlc is already showing its effect on your new baby. As a sidenote I want to add my thinking on the raisins and licorice. These treats are ok in moderation ... like half a raisin two or three times a week and maybe a taste of licorice once a week or so. But my TT developed a very serious case of insulinoma after I began adding honey to my babies' duck soup. I was fortunate that none of my other sweeties were affected by this. Prayers going up for Lily and you from my house to yours, gf. Loving hugs, Greta

wow, i am glad to hear that you were able to take this little on. When i have a little one who doesn't want to eat or needs special attention with food, here is what i do. I take the hard food (Mazuri ferret) and put it in the blender and crush it to a fine powder and add hot water about 1-1 1/2 cups to make it fluid, add baby food turkey, a small amount of olive oil, ferretone and ferrevite. i keep this in the fridge till i need it at each feeding. If the fuzzy needs encourage ment to eat I use a 10cc lurlock syringe with the plastic tip that screws on nipped to allow the food to pass. sometimes i have to force alittle to get them started this i do gently. I have had much luck with this process. my little Podo was kept with me for two years doing this 3 times a day with her normal hard food. She lived to the ripe old age of 10. She was my last fuzzie who i had purchased as a kit. All my current babies are rescues of a sort. My oldest is Fancy who came to us via the feed store where i get my food. She was brought to them to find a person who would care for her, and they found her near a woods near a subdivisions walkpath..... they tried to find the owner but couldn't, so she came to me.... she is about 8-9 years old cause that is how long we have had her with us... I will keep your little one in my prayers and thoughts... give her a hug and a cuddle for me.......... mommie laurie

My kids won't touch cooked meat either gf, except for the turkey or chicken baby food I put in their duck soup. N-bones are an excellent treat for ferrets and most ferrets love them. You can cut the N-bones into smaller pieces, thus getting as many as 6 servings from one bone. They are kind of expensive and can be ordered online from most ferret outlets. I use ferretdepot.com. N-bones contain no sugar products and they have a very digestible elastic quality which ferrets love. To them it's like chewing on rubber. LOL You can also just take a piece of the regular kibble which your fuzzy is used to eating and offer it from your hand as a treat. Many times this works well, too. Your baby may not yet be eating hard foods, though. The Bandit treats all contain sugar products and should be used only very sparingly, if at all. I'll look over my kids' treat box and check out the ingredients and come back to let you know what is safe. One treat I do know is OK is Dookers' Delights by Totally Ferret. They are tiny treats and my kids love them. I hope this helps you. Hugs, Greta
