Thank God and Smoke Detectors!
I went up to my room early last night around 8 pm to watch tv. Around 9:30 I heard the upstairs smoke detector beep a few times. I jumped up and opened the door to white smoke. I ran down stairs to find the whole main floor thick with white smoke so much that I couldnt see. Immeadiatly I checked the stove and there was a frying pan smoking away! I ran it to the front door and threw it on the lawn, then ran in and got the dogs outside, and grabbed up all 4 of the downstairs fuzzies andc ran them up to my room where there was barely any smoke.
Then I ran down stairs and opened windows and screen doors to let out the smoke.
All the while screaming at Trashamn to wake up and help. That was usless. (Hes been working 16 hour days for over a month now.)
A few times I thought I would pass out and had to go outside to catch some air, but finally the house cleared out and al that was left was the smell of the burnt mac and cheese. (I have never heard of anyone trying to fry mac and cheese). Trashman had put it on and passed out.
When I was sure everyone else was safe I went up and snuggled with my fuzzies and cried at the thought of loosing any of my fur kids. By 11 pm everyone was back where they belonged and all was well.
If it had not been for the smoke detector on the second floor, we would not have had a chance.
We had taken the battery out of the main floor one because it kept going off when we made toast.
The first thing I did this am was to put the battery back in the smoke detector on the main floor and check allk the others.
I am still shaky but everyone is safe.
Trashman is banned from using the stove EVER unless I am up and on hte main floor. I know he feels bad and it shook him up as well.
All I can say is Thank God and PLEASE CHECK YOUR SMOKE DETECTORS!
