We are finally back home and all the company has left, so I can tell you about this wonderful weekend and show you some photos. Please though, these photos are not for snagging or usage, they are only to view as they contain many ladies. Thought I did get permission from them to photograph them, I did not get any permission to use the photos except for viewing.
I had expected the caravan to arrive around 6:30 PM, but things were a bit delayed leaving Jacksonville. At around 9 PM Friday night the big truck van and a smaller van arrived. Terrific reunion with Jo and Bob right out there in the driveway. After pulling the vehicles into the driveway and bringing in the luggage, we sat around the dining room table eating cheese and crackers, fruit, ensalada caprese and a few other goodies while toasting to our reunion and memories of London and to meeting Pat and John the people who arranged all this.
Saturday morning we all had to get up at 6 am. Now you know I'm really not human at that hour, but in certain circumstances....miracles can happen. We drove an hour to where the Red Hat Gala affair was to be, and set up the vendor table. Jo was going to sign books, calendars prints and heaven only knows what else there was that pertained to the red hatters.
Because it was a Red Hat Affair, only articles featuring Jo Wall's "The Red Hat" Painting were on display
The doors opened and the ladies began to enter
Check out some of these hats
And when it's your birthday you wear a purple hat....I didn't know this I had to ask
And not to be outdone, Jo Wall had her Red Hat on also
Jo was the featured guest at the affair, but we did not attend. We actually are a late lunch at this tiny bar that was in the building. You are not going to believe these prices. Hubby and I had 2 beers and each had a hamburger....total $4 And besides the prices being unbelievable, the food was delicious....or maybe we were just that hungry.
After the affair ended, the ladies wandered around buying lots of Bling, purples dresses and red hats and accessories. There were sales of books, prints and t-shirts. And Jo signed everything for people
It took over an hour to pack everything up and then to pack the vans and get the 3 vehicle caravan back on the road. We were number 3 and the leader of the pack and we were familiar with the area.
On the way home, actually about 10 minutes from home we stopped at Mimi's Cafe for dinner. And then back home for some wine, after dinner liquors, lots of chatting and actually taking a look at some things on the computer.
Josephine had mentioned to her manager that I often used her work in my graphics and would I show them more of things. Well remember the zodiac graphics I did as snags for you...I showed her all them and she was so excited to see her paintings more. It really made me feel great. She loved the Leo when she saw it saying...of look he's roaring and winking at me. And of course I had to show them the Red Hat WWO's that were made also.
Then it was off to bed as today was another early day. We all got up around 7, hubby made lots of expresso and cappuchino, we sat around the kitchen table and played like this was a bed and breakfast.
A young friend of mine has always been a Jo Wall fan and when she found out she was to be at my house she pleaded with me to let her meet her. No pleading necessary, Jo always loves to meet her fans and treats them like old friends
Then it was time to pack up the vehicles and go to the St Pete Yacht Club where we were meeting some folks for brunch
Here is Bob and Jo Wall. Hubby and Wife. We just have such a great time with them
And the breakfast group.
And of course I had to have at least one photo of Jo and myself
The Men and Pat them went to the vehicles and began unpacking everything and set up the ballroom where from 2-5 there was to be a tea and art exhibition. This was not just Red Hat paraphernalia.
There were original paintings, limited editions gicles, puzzles, cards, book, T-shirts , enamels wood boxes.....and yes a few red hat items also, but most things were all her other art. Jo sat in her throne LOL and signed the items for everyone.
There was a center area with hot and cold teas and wonderful little calorie loaded items that were absolutely luscious and melted in you mouth.
And then the afternoon was over, it was time to pack everything up. Get names and e-mails of people that you met and clicked with. and then we all went out separate ways. Jo and Bob left following Pat and John and headed back to Jacksonville where there were still a few more days of events that she was featured at. Joe and I headed home to let the ferrets out of the bedroom as they had been quarantined since Friday night. Though I did bring out Mac and April on short visits and Pat and Jo visited them in my bedroom, I could not let them loose as there were just too may people around for little furry feet.
So now you know where I have been for the past couple of days and I have tried to share with you some of our adventures. I hope you enjoyed Jo Wall's visit also.
