:'(I've been talking to a new ferret friend on the net. She's had three terrible experiences with vets in her area, two of her babies died to lack of or inferior care. I told her I'd post and see if anyone can reccomend a vet in her area. She has been taking them to the University there for vet care but is really upset at what they are doing to her remaining baby. She lives in Montreal, Province of Quebec, Canada. Any help will really be appreciated and I will pass all information over to her. Thanks so much!!!

If she can drive 2 hours from Montreal to Ottawa, here is my vet : Lynwood Animal Hospital 30 Thorncliff Place Nepean, Ontario k2H 6L2 tel : 613-820-0443
All the time the Dr Doctor of my Babies was the wonderful Dr Maud Carron, sadly she left the clinic for continue study in the Environmental things.
I continue to go at the same clinic, Dr Maria Napke is now their new Dr.

I wonder how far a drive would be from Montreal to a good vet in the States. Is there an ongoing problem with this lady's ferret(s)? I'm not familiar with vet clinics along the US/Canadian border, but I do know there has to be a reliable, ferret knowledgeable veterinarian on the US side. Hugs, Greta

I sent this message to a friend of mine who lives in Canada and she wrote this back: I'll see what I can do, I don't know a lot of people in Montreal with ferrets though. It's another province away and not even an english speaking one. I do have some friends in Ottawa that are relocated Quebecers. Though to be frank most the people I know say that McGill Veterinary is one of the best available and use them. www.medicine.mcgill.ca/arc/services/vetcare.htmlOf course this is always a matter of personal choice and how one gets along with the Doctors and staff. I'll see if I can find another referral - does she need an english speaking vet or a french one? In addition any idea if she is in Montreal proper or one of the boroughs? Montreal is a huge city and not everyone is willing to make a 3hour drive for a vet. Is this an emergency or is it a chronic condition?
