I found a cat in my attic today. It was very scared and actually clung to me for almost two hrs before it even decided to explore my house. My husband came home and immediately told me to put it out. Well, as a compromise it is in my sun room. Just curious, what are the odds that a very well groomed cat that loves people is an outdoor cat? I'm just wondering because my husband seems to think it will just find its way home.

maybe the cat wondered off from an indoor home. Ask your neighbors and/or put an ad in the newspaper...a well-groomed cat usually had a home.

I'd advertize it. It could have escaped its home, but also someone may have moved and just left it. That happens all too often around here.

A well groomed friendly cat, sounds to me like one that has lost his way. Being that's it's winter, I wouldn't just put him outside. If there is snow, he would have lost his scent and the way to go home. I'd check with neighbors, the local vets, He might even have a chip for ID that your vet could scan. Call the local rescues also as people check there for lost animals also. I'd like to think he's lost, rather than abandoned

Has your kitty been declawed, gf? If so, he/she should not be put outdoors ... ever. A cat with no claws cannot climb trees and has no means of protection.. Huronna and other members have given you excellent advice. Advertise the kitty and check with local vets and animal control ... also shelters to see if anyone has reported their cat missing. Please keep us posted. Hugs, Greta

Cat has found it's way home. We went door to door with the cat today and it was claimed. The cat basically jumped out of my arms to run into the house. Thanks for your advice and concern.
