With all of my protective gear, things are going much better. He hasn't attempted to bite me since I have been wearing the hand wraps though or tried to steal my socks. Still don't trust him though and will probably keep wearing the protective gear indefinatly. He is really cute, and I like being able to handle him without constantly montioring the location of his mouth in relation to my skin. The 8 bite wounds on my wrist are still sore, but not red anymore.
Last night I let him meet my cat. Up to this point the cat had either been outside or I had shut him up in a different room when Charcoal was out. I thought that the poor baby had enough of new surroundings and strange co-companian animals to deal with. Charcoal was drinking from the dog's water bowl when the cat saw him. He had never seen a ferret before, and was intensly curious. cautiously sniffing him from behind. When Charcoal had finished drinking and faced Yoda, there were not any ugly surprizes. Yoda didn't fuzz up or hiss or growl, and Charcoal didn't attack. Yoda did smack him a few times with out claws, and then lost interest. I still wouln't trust them alone though.
Now that I know which corner of his cage he uses to eliminate, it is much easier to clean it up every day. I removed the litter box because he didn't like it anyway and it took up too much valuable room in his cage. For the first time last night he spent some time in his hammock. I like it that I know about the happy noises. I want him to feel like he has won the ferret lottery by being here, and want to create an atmosphere where I hear that sound often.
I am going to get a picture of him and post it. I also will check the link to test if he is deaf. He does come when I call though.
Charcoal and I appreciate all of your support!
