I have seen so many recipies for duck soup and although none of my fuzzies are sick, I'd liek to make some and freeze it to have on hand and give as a treat now and then. I need an inexpensive freezable recipie. Anyone got one? I get so confused by the many recipies I see. My fuzzies are so fussy as well. Shadoe

Hi Shadoe, Here's a very simple recipe that should appeal to your babies and make a minimum of work for you. I have a coffee bean grinder ($10 or so) and I fill it with my kids' kibble. Then I grind it to a powder. I microwave 2 cups of water and add enough chicken base to make chicken broth. (You can used canned broth instead.) Mix the chicken base well with the boiling water and then add the ground kibble. Stir it all together and if you want to add something special, just dump in a jar of meat baby food. Let it cool. Put about 1/2 cup of water into a microwaveable bowl and add enough of the above mixture to get the texture you want. If it's cooled off too much just nuke it for a few seconds and test it with your finger to make sure the temperature is comfortable for your babies. Hugs, Greta

I buy chicken legs and thighs on sale and just boil them along with a few chicken livers and a couple of eggs. Cool it, take out the bones and whip the whole thing in the blender, you can soak some kibble in warm water and whirl that in the blender too, mix, pour into freezer containers and your good to go for a while.

I have a simple recipe that works for me. 1 1/2 - 2 cups Kibble 1 can chicken broth 2 jars chicken baby food 3 Large eggs
Blender the kibble Until it is powder. Add chicken broth and chicken baby food. Let it soak until the the kibble is mush. Beat the eggs and microwave them for about two minutes. Mash the eggs as fine as possible add to blender Blend until everything looks smooth and pour into ice cube trays and freeze. I add water or more chicken broth to the cubes when I take them out to use them. Add only enough water or broth to make the cubes the consistency your ferrets will eat. Mine like a soup not a mush consistency. You will have to see what works best for yours.

Hi! I have been buying my kids' Duck Soup from LakeRoad Ferret Farm Rescue Shelter 8 years. It comes in powder form and is mixed with warm water in a blender. It is home made and then adjusted to put it in the proper form for mailings and storing. It is well worth the money and I have used this Shelter site for everything and I can vouch for it on so many different levels. I will try to put the link here, and for all of you--you can read up on how this soup got started there, its ingredients, nutritional benefits, etc. Also take a look at their Store for anything and everything and they also have a "Gently Used" aspect of their store as well as Disability Items for ferrets. I have become good, personal friends with the shelter director, Brenda Johnson, and I would lay my life on the line, so to speak, for this wonderfully fabulous shelter. PLEASE, everyone, take a look around the site and see if there is a way you can serve the shelter as well as how it may serve you. Here's some info: Soup is shipped in dry form in a batch bag. Each bag will make 1 blender full; that will fill 4 Dollar Store ice trays. The blender makes 56 cubes. Your first order will include 4 ice trays with the printed directions on how to mix and then teach your kids how to like soup. It sells for $11.20, but I always buy two to save on shipping, which I believe is $3.85, perhaps more for the first order which includes the ice cube trays. GO TO: www.ferretfarm.org/ SELECT: Ferret Items for Humans THEN: Edible Products for Ferrets AND THEN: Scroll down to the botton - the last entry I hope this helps! And I hope each and every one of you can find a treasure or two! And please pass around what you read to others. I've referred two different ferret parents to the little roller skate / wheelchair--I've heard those are hard to find. HUGS, Sue
