Shelter in Trouble...cross posted

Firstly, I'd like to ask the moderators to please cross post this on EVERY sub-board.

As many of you know, we work along with Father Nature's taking the un-adoptables. Over the years, we have developed a friendship with them, one that I cherish beyond words.

Less than a 1/2 hour ago, at 6:30 am-I received a phone call from Keith. There was a fire, and it has destroyed their lives. EVERYTHING and EVERYONE is GONE apart from 3 fuzzies they were able to save.

Angie's Song will be taking the 3 to care for them for AS LONG AS IT TAKES to get Keith & Evelyn back on their feet.

The sound in this man's voice broke my heart when he told me all of his babies were gone. I have been crying for him, I have been crying for the Eveylyn, and I have been crying for the babies that were lost. I ask myself, how & why do such things happen to such GOOD, GOOD people. I wish I had an answer.

Keith & Evelyn have done SO MUCH, for SO MANY people on this board, and in their community, including myself-all the way to Long Island, to help get our sanctuary off the ground. They have saved the lives of over 675 ferrets in only 2 1/2 years, and have done so much for folks that have already adopted ferrets from them. For all of you who know this, you KNOW how wonderful these folks are, and what an asset they are to our world.

Now, I will do something I have NEVER done on this board, or anywhere else for that matter:

I am asking EACH & EVERY ONE of you to help in some way.

I KNOW we are ALL in financial straits at the moment, but in the big picture, at this moment-they are in need more than we are in need. They have no house, and all but 3 of their babies have been lost.

I am asking, in fact, begging to you to all make a collective effort. Our friends need our help.

I donated 10 dollars. That's all I could do. But wow, I am so saddened by this. They are in my prayers, most indefinitely.

That's great Erica. These times are hard for so many people and any amount is great. Just imagine if all the members of all the ferrets sites were able to donate. I send mine in by Paypal also

Hey Heidi,

I just got off the phone with the lady from Angie's ferret rescue where they took the 3 remaining ferrets. I asked what my husband and I could do, and she said that the outpouring of love and concern has been almost overwhelming. The family has pretty much everything they need as of now, but the monetary donations are still appreciated. The family does want to start over, rebuild, and again have a ferret sanctuary. My husband and I are only 4 hours from the shelter, so we have offered to come up and help them rebuild if necessary. I told her that I couldn't offer much in the way of money, but prayers and physical labor, we have in plenty. So she took our name and number and she said that when they start to rebuild that she will be in touch to let us know what we can do.

WOW Erica, that is terrific. Physical labor is worth a lot more than $. You are wonderful to offer.
Living in Florida, I can't make the same offer, I wish I could.

I received this as an e-mail from a local ferret group and sent it to Huronna in hopes that we could help in some small way. And you all have the hearts of gold and then some. I know that even a few dollars will help these people out, no matter how small. And Erica Bless you my dear. You offer to go help them rebuild comes from a loving heart.

I have gone to their site and cried my eyes out watching knowing what has happened there. I pray for those blesses little creatures that were lost and for Father and Mother Nature.

I sent them a donation of what I could and hopefully there will be more from all over the net from ferret owers like all you and myself.
