Got home from work and Loki was straining to go potty and crying. Took him to vet and he was deteriorating rapidly. They did an X-Ray and he was full of bladder stones. He was to the point where he probably wouldn't survive surgery. So I made the decision to let him go. My heart is broken.

I'm so sorry to hear about Loki. I've lost so many... He had a great home and a great life with you. DIP

I am so sorry to hear that Loki has his wings. I know how much this breaks your heart. It just never gets easier to let them go. Fly high Loki.

Thanks for your kind words. I really hate how well ferrets hide their illness. 4 days before I had to let him go, he was stealing treats from the kitties. The night before he ate a big bowl of soup followed by tone. Then I came home from work and he was critical. Not quite 12 hrs.
I love all the ferrets, but Loki was special. He was my bye-bye boy who would sleep in the ferret stroller so he wouldn't miss an outing. He would also climb on the couch and nap with me. None of the others do that. I have the habit of sleeping with the tail of my blanket on the floor because he would curl up in it to sleep on occasion. When I get home from work, I'm still looking for him to come out and greet me. Occasionally I'll catch a glimpse of Diva (the only other whitish one I have now) and for just a second I'll think it's him, but it's not and my heart breaks all over again. I've lost so many over the years, and it's never easy. But this one has hit me really hard.
