When we left last year, hurricanes were a big factor. We were living in a 1985 trailer that HAD survived the storms of 04-05, but Matthew's eye is supposed to go right over at 130 mph. My son in crescent city and his mom and step dad are ok, as is my best man in edgewater. A couple beachside and intracoastal restaurants we used to frequent got pretty messed up. Havent seen much about beachside yet, but from what little video I've seen the surge didn't cover the barrier islands. Dar has a friend/former client (85 yo) who rode it out on the island in New Smyrna. She has the money she could have chartered a flight out. The bridges are open, but power is out to 80% of the county.
