Glad you could join us. This is a pretty quiet forum with members who have been owned by ferrets for many years. I became a ferret mommy in 1984, so you can see I have had a few, though I only have two now. I live in Florida and where are you? Looking forward to getting to know you.

Welcome to Ferret Lee!Welcome as Huronna said we are a quiet forum now. Most of us have have been owned by ferrets for several years. I got my first one in 1997. I too am down to only two. Their names are Zoey and Zeus. How long have you had ferrets? How many do you have? What are their names and ages? You will find the people here love their babies and are always willing to share what we know about them. We also like pictures.

Hi Lee. Below is our business. I am happily married to DAr24. Ferrets have allowed us to care for them for 10 years now and are what brought us together.

Hello everyone. Thank you for the welcome messages. At the moment I have 3 ferrets, 2 boys micky and Charlie which are brothers and they are 2 years old and a girl called Izzy who is 1 years old. I've had them for about 5 months and I'm loving every minute. I live in Cambridge (England). I've got 4 children but my youngest 2 which is Amy age 10 and Lucy age 6 love having ferrets as well, they love nothing more than taking them out for walks and play time in the garden. Unfortunately I still trying to get the wife involved lol. I look forward to chatting to you all and please be prepared there could be lots of questions. Thank you Lee

They're all lovely. When I got my first ferret, at age 47, she was all mine. No one else in my family was very interested in her. So, I had to find someone who shared my love of ferrets, lol. We'd be delighted to answer any questions we can. I know a number of ferret people from UK from another forum. Where did you get your furballs?

Your ferrets are beautiful. IN 1984 we were looking for another cat, had no idea what a ferret was. We were in a pet store and there were these funny looking animals in an aquarium, we asked what they were and were handed a book called "What is a ferret" My husband and I sat there and read the 60 page book from cover to cover, looked at each other and said....I think this is for us. We were 39 at the time...and now we are 70 and our two beauties, Powder and Scout still rule our lives.

Hi all. I got Micky and Charlie from a rescue centre and izzy I got her from a member of family, she was being kept in a bird cage in a dark shed. Now they live in a 6 foot by 6 foot shed with lots of sleeping areas all at different levels With loads of tubes and tunnels loads of toys, boxes and a ball pit. They also have a run attached to the shed which is 6 foot by 4 foot which they can come and go. And at weekends when we are all home they have the whole garden to destroy lol. So little izzy has it a little bit different to where she come from.

I think that is one of the biggest differences in people keeping ferrets in the USA verses the UK. We all tend to keep ours in our homes, probably because they are 99% altered and descented. While people in UK and other areas in Europe keep theirs outside, probably has something to do with the very musky aroma which tends to be even stronger when they are not altered.
Mine have a cage that is about 4 feet high and 3 ft wide and at least 2 ferret deep. A man made it back in 2000 and when I adopted his two ferrets the cage came with them. All my ferrets up to this point had never been in a cage, only a kennel when they went to the vet, or when they were passengers on Delta Flying from Puerto Rico to the USA to live.
I still have this big cage and many times I will find my ferrets sleeping in it, but the door is always open (unless the cleaning lady is here) and they come and go through the rest of the house as they are free roamers. Of course I do not have carpeting, and I have papers in their favorite corners. They even have stairs so they can climb up on the bed at night. Luckily my husband and I are very calm sleepers. and the ferrets always seem to find a cozy spot near our necks on the pillows HA HA
I guess to each his own...or her own
