Today was one of those mornings when you wonder what you ere thinking when you decided to be owned by ferrets. They didn't get a lot of out time last night because they seemed to be in fall/winter mode so they mad up for it this morning. When we opened the ferret room door, the floor was covered with Prissy messes. In the process of cleaning that up, we found more poops behind furniture, and in a couple corners where they've never gone, and in 2 corners where we forgot to put pads. And someone moved a box in the cage and went behind it twice. In the middle of cleaning, Lola figures out how to move the playpen blocking the kitchen, and she and Rosa had got under the stove, where they commenced to digging up the backing at the edge of the laminate floor. Of course, I didn't KNOW she could move the fence so I figured I left it open a crack. 10 minutes later Rosa's back in there. I have to take the drawer out of the stove with heavy pots and caseroles in it to get them out. In the cage she went. I love that little puffball, nips and all, but her perseveration gets on my nerves. Now I have to figure out how to anchor the fence without tearing up the sides of the counters. After all the cleaning is done, and the ferret room was steam mopped, we start putting them in their room and there is a huge puddle of Prissy mess right in the middle of the floor. But still, we love em.

Sounds like you have a inquisitive ferret. Prissy must be a lot like our Zeus. He can't stand to leave his food in the dish. He has to empty the bowl on to the floor every night to make sure it is a real mess. He is into everything all the time and thinks it a game when we try to keep him out of places he should not go. OH the fun of having inquisitive ferrets.

Prissy is not like Zeus. Prissy is an elderly incontinent old lady.. Whose sole purpose, blind and deaf as she is,,is to find the geometrical center of every room.. and Potty.. And not just Potty in one spot but to leave a four foot trail of pee.. EVERYTIME... ugggg.. I mean thank you Prissy for letting us know everything is still working properly.. But REally?? ugggg.. The hardest thing about her though is not the incontinence but the fact that she absolutely hates being caged of any sort.. For months she did well in a papered area surrounded by a play pen.. But since moving here she has decided she hates being behind the bars again.. and she has proceeded to freak out and bite the bars and freak out.. We don't want her breaking her teeth anymore nor causing herself a stroke or heart attack at her age.. So we had to put the play pen away and let her just have the room.. Problem is can't paper the whole room.. So we are stuck cleaning up messes depending on the day.. some days she is great about papers others she apparently don't know what a paper is for..
Most of the time you just appreciate she is still here.. But this morning was not one of those days for either of us..

Oh the joy of the elderly and incontinent. Mac was the same way. He was always the 100% ferret make it to the papers guy so when he started missing it was heartbreaking. And then we would find the 4 foot streams in the hallways (thank heavens for tile and dark grout) But a couple of time It was dark and I almost slipped and went flying. And then it wasn't just the rivers, it also became the poop tail and butt. those human butt wipes worked well on that. But you're right, even though they drive you crazy you still love the heck out of them. Problem was that Mac still lilkes to roam all over the house, he had never been caged (except when the cleaning lady was here) so I didn't have the heart to even pen him in the bathroom.
I definitely miss his sweet little face, but I really am thankful there are no more rivers to slip and slide in.
