Every day I look for an update on how their move went, are they settled and how the fuzzies are doing.
Had to take Scout to the vet the other day, seems that Powder had been playing a bit too rough with him, bit his belly and it got infected. All is well though, went back to the vet yesterday for a final checkup and all was good to go.
Scout was the little star in the office, everyone wanted to see him because he is so muscular and pretty and sweet. He let everyone pet him even the two little kids there who had never seen or touched a ferret.
We have a reservation for Scout and Powder in October for two weeks while hubby and I go to South America on Vacation. They call it the Luxury pet Motel, and it really is, they take great care of my kids as I have had to take them there a few times in the past couple of years.
Hope everyone is doing good.

We made it. And of course the ferrets gave us a scare. We made the trip in one shot, taking over 11 hours with frequent stops. We started out with the fuzzies riding drag in the car on the hauler, but by 930 AM it was getting warm so we brought them all into the cab of the truck with us. Prissy had a carrier to herself so Rosa et al wouldn't bother her, and the rest we made beds for under and behind the seats. Driving said truck through the mountains was a treat. After one scare I decided to use the transmission to control the speed going down a couple steep ones and had to use second to get up the other side. This morning Dar finally took the time to use one of her tubs. While she was in there I went out to do some stuff in the truck. I stupidly left the other bsthroom door open. When Dar got out, I heard her yell at Yoshi. Sure enough, he got under the vanity and through the floor. He was #4. The house is on a foundation so there was no where for them to go, but the bottom is lined with fiberglass. I went under and right away saw Mogli sticking his head out. Abita came back up to te bathroom, then Rosa appeared where I found Mogi and then Yoshi came back up. Little stinkers. Tomorrow we're going to Home Depot and I'll get some foam to fill the holes. We had a spectacular sunset on our porch last night.

Phew, that sure was a scare., Mine are always trying to sneak out the front door. I bet that is how they came to live at the animal shelter when we adopted them. Looks like a nice comfy place, though I don't envy you having to mow that lawn. Did a riding mower come with the rental? I hope something did
Great to hear from you and that all are well

We have two mowers, but the landlord said to just give him a call when it needs it. Stupid dog is the one that snuck out the front door Sunday and hasn't been found. Our printer died, so we went to WalMart to get one so we can print some flyers as well as send some paperwork to sell our old home. (It sold in a week) We get the printer home, in what looks like an unopened box, but it turns out it's been used. The ink has been installed and the black is empty so it has to go back. The dog is so friendly it's easy to imagine someone just keping him but he did have his rabies tag so he should be easily traced.

Sorry about the dog, don't recall you're even mentioning you had one.
A used printer? Now that is a trip, someone must have bought it returned it and they put it right back on the shelf.

We only had the dog a few months. He was ok, but not brilliant. We do miss him, tho. Why do dogs do that?

Sometimes they try to "go home" and many make it You might contact a neighbor in Florida to keep an eye out for him.

600 miles? He's originally from Ohio where he was severely neglected. Maybe that's why he turned North at the end of our road.

We just have to assume that someone found him and gave him another good home

yeah. and they were too ignorant to trace him through his rabies license. We're going downtown tonight to check out First Friday. Daytona did the same thing. Most downtown merchants stay open until 9 and they have a sort of block party with a band and activities. Tomorrow morning there is a farmer's market in the same area.
Today I visited my new boss and crew. Place looks pretty laid back. Today was casual Friday, and when I walked in on a 911 emergency, with a patient being transferred to a gurney in the hall, I did't realize I was assisting my boss along with the firemen and EMTs because she was dressed in jeans and a Tee, lol.
The drive was 25 minutes, no stress, at rush hour. Very doable. Looking forward to starting.

That is pretty casual, we have that every once in a while in the lab, you have to donate $5 to wear jeans, I think it goes to Ronal McDonald House or someplace but you still have to wear a lab Tee.
I'm really excited about your starting. Is Dar having any luck job hunting or is she waiting for you to start?

last night we decided to cross the main highway and go for a long walk in one of the neighboring neighborhoods. We stopped to talk to an older couple and while there another lady came by in her car looking for her dog. We had't seen him but asked if she'd seen Snickers. So, the couple we were talking to knew where he was. While he was there he had made friends with the whole neighborhood, so we had to go to 3 other houses so he could say good-bye. We promised that we'd bring him along when we went walking over there in the future. We're loving it here. The couple that had him tried calling the roaming vet that did his shots but her voicemail was full. So we met 3 nice couples and got snickers back. The couple that had him spent many years vacationing in Port Orange, just a few miles from where we lived. The have a 17 year old lhasa-shih tzu mix and asked it we could help them find another shih.

Dar is waiting for me to start and debating an online customer service job she trained for. We'll only have one car for a while. Today we bought a leather sofa and recliner.
