we have 3 chinchillas,a male,Gus & 2 girls,Bambi & Trixie(Bambi is biege & reminds me of a deer when she moves-i named her,my brother named Trixie : they are sisters. Bambi had her babies today. she has 2 & they started walking/hopping around shortly after they were dry. this is our first experience with little babies,we new what to expect but its still surprising to see such little chinchillas moving around in there. aunt Trixie helped dry them & sits with them & their momma. she also keeps Gus away. its nice that they arent mean with babies like most rodents. dads sat higher in the cage all day watching & listening but hes not allowed on the floor with the little ones, hes moping around now. they are funny critters! i hope to get some pictures later, if my brother can get them to my computer ill post them.

That's great, ff!! Chinchilla's are such beautiful animals. My father used to raise them when I was a young girl. Those babies just have to be the cutest! If you have an extra cage, you could keep papa in it and set it near the cage where the girls and the babies are. That way papa won't have to mope, he'll be able to lay claim to his own territority and Auntie Trixie will have one less job to do. lol Congraqtulations on your wonderful newbies!! Hugs, Greta

pictures! the back of their cage is dirty cause that dirty Gus pees down the board on the back. we had to put the momma & babies in a rat cage cause the babies can get out of the chin cage. we had to hunt down the beige baby at 4:30 this morning(was hopping around under the drum set),its very lucky one of the dogs didnt get it! tomorrow were gonna put smaller wire on the chin cage & clean it up for the sisters & babies.Gus will be in his own cage. Bambi & babies Gus Trixie babies

Oh! Oh! Oh! Your babies are gorgeous, gf!! I think it's so precious that the sister is such a help in raising her little neices and nephews. It's been too long for me to remember, but do you know if another nursing female chin will nurse the young of a related chinchilla? Don't be too hard on papa. He's just staking his claim with his pee. lol Huggers, Greta

i havent had a chance to get back & update on the babies.been busy with the puppy, hes got parvo & im taking care of him here at home. the chin babies are doing good & climbing around in the cage they even go up to the different shelves with the adults.Gus is in his own cage,i carry him in to see his family thru the wire. the babies hold hay & chew on it now.they also make all kinds of noises when they want an adult or if one has just come over to them.they like to jump on top of their igloo & will start pushing each other till one falls off. i did try giving the chins a hammock before they didnt like it,but would chew it up. i dont know if chins will nurse other babies or not.we still think Trixie looks pregnant but dont know.Gus spent most of his time with Bambi, grooming each other or just sitting with their necks over the other ones back.

;D[glow=red,2,300]Flea fighter what a name. Will you must be new. Welcome to our group. You chins. are so cute my daughter wants one. She is grown so she can buy it. I rather have ferrets. Now do you have ferrets too? I hope you can get your puppy well. When I get a new puppy I head for he vet to get that provo shot so they will not get it. I live in a simi small town and we alway have dog runnen lose. If I get ahold of them I call and have them picked up. We do have a leash law in town. We had a dog that died from pravo. It just make me sick to see her suffering. This was before we knew what pravo was. Till I told the vet how she was acting and he said it was pravo. But any who thank you so much for shairing with us. Your babies are just so cute. I know they are soft. I don't understand why people wants to make coats out of them. It looks much better on the animal than on a humen. Love and God bless. Sheila[/glow]
