We've scheduled surgery for July 1 to remove the growth on her ear. The vet said that she'll need general anesthesia, which, to us, is the biggest worry. But she seems healthy otherwise, so she should be fine.

It's always scary when they have to go general. It must be a big growth and not just a mole. Are you going to get her an earring to wear afterwards? Instant ear piercing LOL
Paws crossed for her

At this point she'll remove at least 3/4 of the outer ear. This was 2 weeks ago and it's slowly growing

Thought I'd post a couple pix of Rosa's ear as it is a couple days befor she has it removed. Today she gave me a face full of kisses like few ferrets have done. She's doing so much better now and we hope that removing her tumor will allow her to be herself without that distraction and discomfort.

She looks just like Powder, except for the ear. Tuesday is the big day. I actually did have one ferret that had a mole on her ear. This was when I was in Puerto Rico. I know he didn't use general because he really didn't deal with ferrets. except shots and simple things. I couldn't stay in the room, but my husband did. I think he used some type of local and this is going to sound weird but tied a string around it to get it off? I know that wasn't exactly it, but it was more of a mole not a tumor
Will be waiting for her to come back home

This has no stalk. Its between the inner and outer layer of the ear. I wish we had tried to tie off Booboo's. He might still be here. The vet says due to location a local won't be possible. Rosa is pretty hyper. she'd have to be duct taped down.

Talked to vet office. She's ok and wants out of the cage, lol. I'm soooooo relieved I'm in tears. I'll post pics of her ear, which I'm hoping was notched and not completely removed.

We thought she'd have a notch, at least, or lose her whole ear, but the vet did a great job! No stitches, just glue. I hope I don't have to use the E-collar I made. Kudos to Dr B! The bill was even $60 less than estimate! When's the last time that happened? When Rosa got home she inspected the house, ate a bowl of soup, had a brief "discussion" with Lola, and hit the sack in the outside dresser. Here's the new, streamlined Rosa. Any dark spots on her ear are areas that were cauterized, or Marshall tatts..

Rosa has actually put on a little weight and is firm and strong, and her fur is just beautiful. She's coming into her own both health and personality wise. I love her to death.
