. . . there was a beautiful albino ferret boy named Casper. Heart and kidney failure claimed our little beener boy today. We helped him over this afternoon just before 3:00. Always a happy, dancing boy, Casper filled our home with laughter and our hearts with joy. Casper's best friend and partner-in-crime, Sebastian, has been gone now for over 2 years. One can only imagine the adventures they are having now, united again. Dance on, Dear Casper, dance on. JulieAnn & Arlo

Fly high and free on your beautiful new wings sweet Casper. You and Sebastian can dance and play together once again and keep each other company till one day mommy comes to get you. He sounds like such a sweet boy and my heart goes out to you today in your time of loss. They are never with us long enough, and they take a little piece of our hearts with them to comfort them till you are together again and all the hearts will once again be whole.

Dear JulieAnn and Arlo, I am very sorry to hear Casper left for the Bridge . I'm sure he and Sebastian are watching over you along with the rest of your dear angels. I understand how much it hurts to suffer so much in so little time in your heart. May your tears one day turn into smiles at the memories of all your wonderful times and love and joy with all your angels. With kind thoughts and hugs, Lily xo

Casper, A handsome Albino ferret, waits on the lakeshore. The surface of the lake is undisturbed by wind and as smooth as glass. The far shore of the lake is completely hidden by a pearly white mist. Casper watches the mist; he's waiting for something. From time to time, the ferret looks over his shoulder at something inland. It’s not something that he can see with his eyes, but he feels it with his heart. There is a look of serenity in Casper’s eyes – a look of peace.
A small sailboat, with a picture of a beautiful rainbow on the sail, appears out of the mist and heads for the shore. The crew consists of four ferrets. At the tiller is Harley-Bug of Canada, judging the course with two good eyes. Working the sails is Big Bear of Oregon, his hind legs whole and strong again. On the bridge, showing the way, are Kodo from Michigan and White Russian, whose tragic stories have inspired so many. Little Levi is fascinated by the pretty sail, and reaches out his tiny paws to touch it, but it's too far away.
The boat pulls close to shore, and Casper climbs aboard. As the boat pulls away and heads for the white mist and the unknown land beyond it, the ferret keeps his eyes on the shore behind him, feeling the love that will last for all time. And Casper smiles.
Watching from some distance along the shore are Sammy, a Dark-Eyed White ferret wearing a black yarmulke with simple red trim, and his wife Clarissa. She holds her little Albino baby Levi. They want to travel to the Bridge someday, but they are creatures of the imagination; they don't know if they can. As the boat, with its precious passengers on their final journey, sails silently across the lake, Sammy begins to sing:
They say there’s a place Where dreams have all gone. They never said where, But I think I know. It’s miles through the night, Just over the dawn, On the road that will take me home.
I know in my bones I’ve been here before. The ground feels the same, Though the land’s been torn. I’ve a long way to go, The stars tell me so, On this road that will take me home.
Love waits for me ‘round the bend, Leads me endlessly on. Surely sorrows shall find their end, And all our troubles will be gone. And I’ll know what I’ve lost, And all that I’ve won, When the road finally takes me home.
And when I pass by, Don’t lead me astray. Don’t try to stop me, Don’t stand in my way. I’m bound for the hills Where cool waters flow On this road that will take me home.
Love waits for me ‘round the bend, Leads me endlessly on. Surely sorrows shall find their end, And all our troubles will be gone. And I’ll know what I’ve lost, And all that I’ve won, When the road finally takes me home.
I’m going home…
Sammy holds his beloved Clarissa close to him and watches the boat disappear into the mist. Little Levi waves bye-bye.
Our deepest condolences on the loss of your baby. Farewell, Casper.
