My vet called today and says I have to buy a 2 pack of suprelorin f at a cost of $414. There's a good chance the second implant will expire before I need it, so I'm looking for a vet that can get me 1. I'm willing to drive a bit to get it. a 100 mile 1 way drive will cost a lot less than $200. If anyone (huronna) within a hundred mile of daytona knows a vet that has enough demand to order a box of 2 implants, please let me know.

I don't know if my vet uses it. My main vet (Dr Thomassey) was in a bad car accident the first part of Jan and isn't expected back until next week I think, but he has two other vets working with him and one Dr. Fischman (she is young and always investigating new things) has been taking care of Mac. It's Valrico Animal Clinic 813-681-6389 Fell free to say that you are a friend of (not Huronna but) Heidi Lepak and that I suggested you call them. I only live about 10 minutes from the clinic and you are more than welcome to stay over if you needed to (except the last weekend of this month when we will be away and the ferrets will be at the vet

Thanks, I really appreciate that, but I got 2 vets to cooperate and get us 1 implant. I called 5 other vets and found one that usually has an implant or 2 on hand, but the one they had was expired. She asked if I was a client of Dr B, who had called the day before about it. She offered to call Dr B and see if she would split a box of implants. Here's the punchline: A couple hours later, Dr B's office calls me and said they found another facility that would take the other implant. Fine, you can take the credit, as long as Jaffs gets his implant. Jeez. I do all the phone work and they still wanted to charge me $400 for this: virbacdev.omegacomminc.com/Ferret-Products/Suprelorin-F-47mg-Implant-2-Pack.html When I take Jaffa in, I will let them know that I called the other vet myself, and show them the printout of that link. I'm fully prepared to go to the other vet. I've heard nothing but good about them, the person I spoke to on the phone has 4 ferrets of her own and has dealt with adrenal, and just based on the ease with which I could get des there, they must see a lot more ferrets. (It's definitely a wealthier town than mine) They even mention ferrets specifically on their web page. Dr. B and staff are really impressed with our knowledge of ferret husbandry, but I'm really disappointed that she thought she could stick me like that without me trying to go elsewhere. It's a matter of driving 30 minutes instead of 15, which translates into $13.33/minute in savings, on one implant.

I don't understand. If it is being sold for 2 implants for 180 that is $90 each. How did they come up with $400? something doesn't smell quite right.
Ever since the first time I used Lupron, I bought it directly from The Pharmacy in Baltimore. I would have my vet call in the script, then I would call them with my Creditcard and mailing info. They would send it directly to me and then I'd make the appt.

I have to look for lupron again, too. Last time we tried to get it they (2 different vets, not out current one) told us we had to buy a whole vial. One price was `$600 and 1 was $900.

The last time I ordered it was right before April died. SO that would be Dec 2012. It was from the Medical Arts Pharmacy in Baltimore, the number I called was 1-800-832-9285 I always used the 2 mg doses of 4-month Lupron. It arrived in powder form with vial of sterile water. Did not have to be refrigerated but had to be used when rehydrated. The first time I bought it was 1999 and had it shipped to Puerto Rico. Dr Weiss called in the script for me after seeing photos of my two kids. The cost then was right around $200. Mind you, this 4 month depot is slow releasing and usually worked for 8-10 months. One visit sure is less traumatizing that monthly. The last time I think it was $245. This place specializes in compounding scripts. and it always arrived within a week

Moe had 2 of the 3 month depots that worked for him over 5 months. When he passed in his sleep at age unknown but at least 5 years, he had the lushest coat of any we had. He had that really fine, thick fuzzy fur that not all ferrets have. The closest we have to that coat atm is Yoshi, but Moe's was even finer. Yoshi's summer coat resembles Moe's.

Jaffa finally got his implant today. It was either a dull needle (it's huge) or he has some really tough skin (he does) but she really had to shove to get it in. Jaffa took it like the big dude he is and didn't attack the vet or the tech. A dab of dermabond and a piece of NBone and it's all good. I sit here kicking myself in the butt again because I didn't get a pic of the stinkin needle or procedure. And irony of ironies, the vet says they have someone else coming in next week for one, after all that hassle to find one. but the other vet where this one came from said they'd take it. His fur has filled in a bit since his melatonin implant last month, but his tail still looks like this. The tip is visible too And this is our hero tonight, no worse for wear. You can see the tip of his tail
