First I should tell you what actually happened with Really.
Though it was an aueurism, he actually had a squishy tumor that was meshed around his intestine and stomach. Because it was soft and mushy, it could not have been felt and since the blood work was pointing at a kidney problem, that is what we were treating him for.
The tumor would have continued to grow and my poor baby would have suffered until things got so back we would have had to help him cross the bridge. Though we were totally devastated at the sudden lost of Really, we are thankfully that he went so fast and did not suffer.
We would rather be the ones to suffer with broken hearts than for him to have been in pain.
My husband and I were total basket cases for many days. We would just look at each other and break into tears.
Mac didn't know how to react with all the constant attention he was getting. He's always been quite independent, not liking to be cuddled but then never being a nipper or nasty either. Be here we were cuddlying him and holding him and then lo and behold we discovered that he had lumps under both front legs...I guess if he had arm pits, that is where they would be. And like about a month ago, he started with the dry cough. We had the clavamox from really, so immediately started Mac on it and were at the vet first thing Monday Morning. Blood work, x-rays and full exam. The x-ray shows a small cloudy spot that with his cough they though perhaps the beginning of pneumonia but with the immediate start of the antibiotics, we were hitting that right away. His blood work showed no insulinoma, as his glucose was in the upper 90's. No anemia, and all his chemistries are fine. He was given another 10 days of antibiotics and then we will repeat the x-ray. He's eating well, not lethargic and we are breathing a little sigh of relief.
Mac is over 6 so even if those lumps turn out to be lymphoma, it isn't the aggressive juvenile type it will be the slower adult variety and we will deal with that as best as possible.
So now you know why I have been a bit quiet. things have just been hitting us on the head.
Will keep you posted
