We got his blood work back yesterday.
It showed that his glucose was a little low, but they are going to repeat that the beginning of next week as it was 64. If it doesn't get any higher he will probable start treatment for insulinoma.
His liver function tests including bilirubin were totally normal, so that basically rules out liver problems.
His kidney function tests were above normal, but not sky-high. BUN was 35 (notmal is up to 33) and creatinine was 1.4 (normal up to 0.8).
He had 75 cc sub q fluids today and will go back Thurs, Fri And Sat for another session and then repeat blood work on Monday or Tuesday.
But there was definitely activity in his red cell population that showed some sort of bleeding trauma. Though his H & H were 43 and 16.6, showing no anemia, there were very young polychromatic red cells and other red cells with young forms showing the rapid rejuvenation of the red cell population.
We think there was some type of trauma and putting together all the circumstances of the past few days we think it was the fact that when he was given a shower and cream rinse, perhaps the procedure was a bit too rough on him. You can't quite Wring out a ferret, not that that was what happened but I think there was a bit too much scrubbing and rubbing if you get my drift.
He is also on 10 days of the ferret wonder drug Clavamox, the cure all LOL Though his White count was normal at 5.7, showing no infection. It's just that wonder drug that is always perscribed.
And by the way...his pee is again yellow in color, the green was most likely the degenerated red cells being eliminated from his system.
So there you have it, hopefully he is on his was to recovery and being his jovial self again.
Thanks for all you concern, it is definitely appreciated.
