I can home late last night from work and my husband said that Really was peeing green urine? He said he searched all over to see if there was something he might have eaten that would cause the color. Then he wondered if he might have dropped one of his water pills accidentally on the floor and Really got a hold of it. This is so weird. We were at the vet less than a month ago for his yearly physical and nothing was detected. They spent last weekend at the vet. There is no hair loss, no loss of weight He has always been a very laid back ferret Appetite is the same He has been very itchy lately and vet recommended this cream rinse which hubby did Friday night after bathing him. Of course things always happen on the weekend and I have to work tomorrow, But hubby is taking Really to the vet and they open at 8 am and he plans on being there April had liver problems but her pee was never green is was amber Can't believe I may have another liver cancer ferret Well I will update you later tomorrow Please say a little prayer for my little boy

Good luck with Really. Hopefully it was just an isolated incident!

Urinalysis was negative except for a trace of blood Two X-rays were done to specifically look for bladder or kidney stones-Neg Blood work drawn, but results will not be back until late tomorrow of Wed. Nothing abnormal noted on examination.
There is one thing though that we are wondering about. Really has always been an itchy ferret and on Friday my husband picked up a cream rinse recommended by the vet. He gave him a bath Sat morning and cream rinsed him that morning.....could it be an allergic reaction? The product name is micro pearls advantage dermal soothe....though recommended for dogs, cats and horses, they felt it was safe for ferrets also....I looked up the MSDS to see if there were allergic reactions and you know how those things are, the list is a mile long just to cover their tushes for law suits.
Nothing else to report at the moment.
Oh and so many times I warn people about the cost of health care for aging or sick ferrets....$385 Now we just wait for the blood results

I've seen green pee twice. Erik, one of my first ferrets, had a bladder infection, but it showed up on UA. Larry had green pee and it turned out he had lymphoma in his liver. All of his blood work was normal except for elevated creatinines, which showed his kidneys to be stressed. He may have had lymphoma there too. The green was from elevated billirubins, a product of the liver. Larry's liver was compromised and leaking into his abdomen. Billirubins were also found in his abdominal fluid. BTW, Erik did 2 rounds of antibiotics, but he got better. Then someone left the door open 2 weeks after and he was gone. Cost for Erik: $140 for ferret, $240 for vet, 20+/- hours searching the neighborhood and a chunk of my heart. Cost for Larry was closer to $450, including CBC, UA, 2 abdominal taps and x-rays, and a big discount from the vet who was new to ferrets but willing to learn and help me out financially. And another chunk of my heart.
I'm talking to another ferrent. I'll send you a PM
I hope Really fares better. I love his name.
