Mac and Mr. Really just had their yearly exam and rabies shots last week and they were both given a clean bill of health except for the recommendation of teeth cleaning. We are going away next weekend and this will be the first time in my life that I have ever boarded any pet of mine. But I just don't have anyone near me that can come twice a day to feed them their soup and clean up their papers. The boarding is at the vets and they have wonderful facilities.
So what happened yesterday...Mac starts to cough. Not consistently, but when he does it scares the pants off you. and then he relaxes and stops. It reminds me of Clyde and his aggressive juvenile lymphoma, but Mac is no juvenile.
I had to work so I told my husband to keep an eye on him and I guess he must have gone into another coughing spell and hubby took him to the vet. They put him on clavamox and we are keeping a close eye on him

Heidi, not to scare you,but if they didn't, maybe have him checked for enlarged heart or fluid around heart .... Thor was coughing that way and we didn't know it was a symptom and he had congestive heart failure soon after bless him. Hugs, got to email you too, will do that in a few

It actually reminded me of Clyde who started coughing and one week later he was gone. He had aggressive juvenile lymphoma and it got him so fast our heads were spinning.
Mac isn't young, he is around 6 I think. What ever it was, it seems to be getting better. Friday morning at 5 am he coughed a bit and I gave him some nutrical thinking it was a scratchy throat. He lapped that up and for the next 24 hours he did not cough at all. This morning at 5 am there was one single cough. That was it. And he actually is venturing out of the bedroom this morning which he has not done in a couple of days.
So we are definitely keeping our fingers crossed and of course keeping a close watch on him
Thanks for your concern

Glad he's feeling better. I know we're not that close, but it you were driving by Daytona we could look after them.

And I bet I would not have to worry about your home being ferret proofed LOL
Right now my vet has two other ferrets boarding there. And they looked very comfy
Better write out their feeding instructions and idiosyncrasies LOL
