I have been dealing with a sick kitty the past week. I rescued Jewel about 4 months ago, she was living under the deck at my work. I got her tested, vaccinated, and spayed, and planned on finding her a new home. But she is soo sweet I never really got around to looking for one for her LOL Last weekend she started throwing up, mostly after she ate. It was at the start of the heat wave up here, so at first I put it down to the heat. I know when it is hot, I tend to get sick to my stomach when I eat. But when she was still vomiting on Wed, I took her in to the vet. They did X-rays to look for a blockage, checked her over, then gave her a shot for nausea and sent her home on meds and with science diet I/D can food for a bland diet. She seemed to be doing better Thursday, but on Thurs night she stopped eating and was vomiting again. I took her back in on Friday, and they kept her. The did another set of X-rays, and it showed 'something' wasn't quite right. Then they did an ultrasound, it was inconclusive. So Friday afternoon she had an exploratory surgery to see if there was a blockage that just wasn't showing up. They didn't find a blockage, but her large intestine was inflamed and irritated. She also has enlarged lymph nodes near her colon. The vet took a biopsy of the nodes, and will be sending it off to be tested. She said it could just be from infection, but wants to have it tested for Lymphoma, just to be sure. Saturday she was still refusing to eat, so it was decided to let her stay in the hospital at least one more day. That way they could keep her on IVs and giving her meds by IV. They gave her a med to stimulate her appetite, and she started eating today. YAY But she is still at the clinic until probably tomorrow morning. We figured one more day of recuperation would be best for her. So hopefully I get to bring her home tomorrow. It's going to be one loooong week until we get the biopsy results back.
This is how concerned she was about being at the vet. She just laid on the chair and purred the whole time. (the cocked ear is cuz she was listening to a dog in the waiting room)
