I made it in to check out the little biter. She was sick! Her little eyes were all crusty, and she was real skinny. They had taken her to the vet, and she was on eyedrops for her eyes. I talked to the pet store owners and told them how to make soup for her. The one owner immediately headed for the store and asked if I could stick around and show her how to mix it up. I had her get some chicken baby food and pedialyte (the little girl was aslo dehydrated) and they already had the kitten milk replacer at the store. While she was gone, I carried the baby around the store. I had to keep my hands inside my jacket sleeves, she was trying so hard to bite me. She was falling asleep in my arms, still gnawing on my jacket cuffs. When Brenda got back I mixed up some soup and showed her how to syringe feed. But by the time the little ferret was through half a syringe, she was eagerly gobbling it up! So I offered it on a spoon, and then she literally dove into the bowl of soup! Thank goodness, she loves it! After she ate this little girl who was trying to chew my hands off actually gave me turbo kisses.
I really like the owners of this store. It is family run, and they truly love animals. Some places wouldn't have even cared about a sick baby. But Brenda ran right out and got what she needed. When I left, she had the little ferret in a carry pouch they use for sugar gliders so she could keep a close eye on her. And she took my phone number so she could call me with any more questions. (I'm in their directory as "the ferret lady" lol) She also told her husband that if she is going to nurse this ferret back to health, she will probably bond with her, and that there was no way they would be selling her. She will become the store's "resident ferret". Her husband just kinda rolled his eyes a little and said "I already figured that" LOL
I have errands to do out that way either tomorrow or Monday. I will stop in there and will give you an update.
