That was amazing!! Thank you so much for bringing this video to the board, Friend. I've never seen a live ferret birth before. Only rabbits and chinchillas and once I helped deliver a human baby. Hugs, Greta

That was just beautiful. How gentle the mother was. I too wonder if there were more babies.

Some of you may remember that i kept a log last year when we were expecting a litter... i've been asked by the holistic ferret forum to do the same this year and we were thinking of including a video or webcam feed of the birth and growth of the litter if we can... if you all would be interested in seeing it i'll be sure to put it up here too...

i was a bit sad to see it so unnatural!! unless there was a health problem with the jill of course...
surely she should have been tucked into a nest box and allowed to do her work? and not held onto her back ?
but again i dont know the particulars there... i suppose there are reasons or cases where that sort of direct human intevention is needed... shrugs

I'd be very interested in seeing videos of a ferret birth and also of the kits as they grow, lorelie. I'm glad you mentioned the jill should not have delivered her kit as she lay on her back. Having not seen a ferret birth before, I thought the jill must have assumed that position. Thank you so much for offering to do this for us, girlfriend.l Hugs, Greta

I wondered about that position also, but thought there must have been a reason for it. Perhaps a long labor or difficulty getting the kit out.
We would definitely love to see your video Lorelei
