Does anyone else have a ferret that talks in their sleep?
I swear some night Bonita has a running conversation with herself. She is up in her hammock sound asleep and just chattering away.
We had friends over last night and earlier in the evening all the kids were out making friends with them, but as we sat down for dinner, April,Bonita and Mac went back to the bedroom to have their own dinner and go back to nap for a while.
When my friends were ready to go home they said they wanted to say good bye to the kids. I knew April and Mac would be in the night table drawer all cuddled together....but what is that other noise they said. As we tip toes over to the cage, there was Bonita sound asleep talking in her sleep.
My friends thought this was a hoot.
Of course sometimes at 4 in the morning it's so loud it wake us up. The first couple of time we'd rush out of bed to find what was the matter, only to see Bonita sleeping like a baby.
I guess if humans can do it, so can ferrets.

You are so lucky to only here talking..I don't hear my guys very often make noise in their sleep...But when they do they scream...Makes me think they are having nightmares about something... I can't imagine what could be scaring them so much..They don't even scream when they are awake..So it is an unusual sound for them to make..

Two of my little guys chatter in their sleep. Only one or two times have I heard Coogles "scream". It was frightening to say the least! I find myself watching them as they chatter, and wonder what is going on in their little minds. I have even seen Mittens twitch his paws, as if he were running or playing. These guys are so cute to watch asleep or awake!

When Cinco was still with me, I would fall asleep at night listening to his gently snoring. But as far as I know, none of the five fur babies who have claimed me has ever chattered in their sleep. Nada had a couple of screaming episodes, but only when she was awake. Her vet attributed this to a tumor in her brain area. The pred solved this problem completely. It must be just adorable to witness and hear your llittle one carrying on a one-sided conversation whle sound asleep. The only sounds I hear from Ozzie and Itty when they sleep, are when Ozzie jumps out of his bed at night to vigorously scratch an itch. Hugs, Greta

My angel Thor used to cry out in his sleep. It scared me too, I was afraid it was nightmares though I couldn't figure why. He was adopted though, so you never know. My mom bought him a dreamcatcher and I hung it up above where he slept. When he crossed to the Bridge, I buried it with him. I've had a few that chattered like Bonita, Huronna. And it was cute . Noah rarely talks in his sleep, he sleeps so soundly lol....next to me in bed, so I'd hear him. Cosima though (my dog) she talks all night long. She moans and grumbles like a little old lady and then she'll squeak and sometimes even bark. She must dream of our runs or hikes or rabbits or something lol.

LOL! Maybe . She's taken to sleeping on the floor though. Not because of Noah lol. She used to sleep on the bed every night but now she only stays on the bed when we watch a movie, once we turn off the lights she is on the floor now sort of looking out over the loft. I guess she's being a guardian of the house...except she falls asleep lol.

OMG YES Huronna, I have one here or maybe more LOL I don't know who but sometimes someone does that but as the cage is covered, I don't want to wake them up and by the time I'll have remove the black curtain it would have probably stopped and I won't know who it is. Lily, now you tell Granny that I just had the same idea for the dreamcatcher I want to put one, have you noticed if it has worked with Thor RIP

Lily Dear, Could Cosima have arthritis? Often dogs develop painful joints as they age. My sweet Dylan developed arthritis in both hips and other joints, too. His X-rays revealed the problem hips. If this is the case, there is a medication called rimadyl (sp?) that will readily remedy the problem. When you mentioned Cosima sleeping on the floor instead of the bed it brought back some memories of my precious Dylan's behavior. Loving hugs, Greta

Thank you Greta. No, she doesn't yet. She may in time though. She's hiking and running and jumping still like a puppy she is just a herding dog that runs point so I think instinctively she wants to watch over the house at night. Thank you though, I know they can develop it in time and we need to watch that. Big hugs to you. Thank you Linda, big hugs.

Just thought I'd let you all know ... I've found Cookie's dreamcatcher and it seems to work !!!!! I haven't heard anyone talking in their sleep yesterday night LOL I've put it on the cage but on the outside though, because I don't trust Rose, I'm pretty sure that she'll want to destroy that thing ! LOL

Hmmm perhaps I should think of something like that. Now I understand a little more about my brother. He used to have a big dream catcher above his sleep sofa in his apt. That was where he slept. It was really beautiful, from South Dakota. I don't know how old it was or how much he paid for it, but when he died and I was cleaning out his apt. I called the Native Indian Museum in NYC and then came and picked it us and were thrilled with it. I was glad to make someone happy

Huronna ... all I can say is that it's more quiet here in the cage, this afternoon I had to check twice to be sure they were still alive, they were all sleeping peacefully If you try it or if someone else does, please write here to tell me, I am very impressed for now and the less stress ferrets can have the best it would be for them IMO regarding diseases etc.

Huronna when you come to Arizona you could get a nice dreamcatcher if you wanted. That was very nice about the museum. Linda I'm glad the dreamcatcher seems to be helping!
Greta Cosima is going to the Vet today, for other issues but I will mention her groaning in her sleep too just in case!
Hugs to all.

LOL between Ron, the dog and the cat I can't hear if mine does or not. I wish I knew. Ron just bought some snow in for the furkids to play in. Cennamon pooped in it. Her feet was bright pink. Love and God bless. Sheila[glow=red,2,300][/glow][shadow=red,left,300][/shadow]
