Good Night My Precious
by Phyllis Elledge
Good night my Precious, I love you so
But I can see in your eyes that you’re ready to go.
The sparkle is gone and you look at peace
It’s time to help your soul be released.
As I hold you close and gently weep
Your Earthly self drifts off to sleep.
The Angels are calling and I see a soft glow
They’re here to take you home, it’s OK to go.
In my breaking heart I hear a soft voice
That’s telling me that there was no choice
It’s your time to journey to another plane
Where there is no hunger, abuse, sickness or pain.
And you won’t be alone as those who’ve gone before
Will be waiting to greet you at Heaven’s door
And when you cross to this Promised Land
Someone will always be there with a loving hand.
You’ll be healthy and happy and feel like a kit
And you’ll dook and dance in a joyous fit
Then as you walk on you’ll hear the bells ring
And go to a place where you’ll get your wings.
As you go over and gaze into the misting pond
You’ll see that I’m trying hard to be strong
And as your tears fall and you send me your love
A warm healing rain falls from above.
Now your days are filled with fun and play
Or if you want you can sleep all day.
And you and your friends will have such fun
As you frolic beneath the nice warm sun.
And when I turn my face to the clear night sky
I see your star twinkle and know you’re close by.
And even though we’re still apart
It still helps to ease the ache in my heart.
I hear you soft dooking but you remain unseen
And I know that you’ve come to comfort me.
There’s a smile on my face when I hear this sound
For I know for sure that you’re still around.
I know that you’re here . . . that your soul is set free
And this is the way it was meant to be.
And we both know that when it’s my time to cross
That I’ll be joining you and we’ll feel no more loss.
And then we will walk hand-in-hand
Across the meadow to the edge of this land
And then we’ll cross over a beautiful ridge
And together we’ll cross the Rainbow Bridge.
So good night for now my Precious one
I know that you spirit isn’t gone
For I feel your presence each and every day
And alive in my heart you’ll always stay.
