Everything I Ever Needed to Know,
I Learned from my Ferrets
1. Do not judge others. I have six ferrets. One is white, two are raccoon colored, two are cinnamon colored and one is mostly gray. All live in harmony. No one is a minority or disliked because he or she is different.
2. Respect your elders. I have one old ferret who is loved and accepted by the rest. Even though he sleeps more and plays less, he is just as much part of the group as the other five. He is not pushed away, ignored or neglected.
3. Be comfortable with yourself. I don't have a single ferret who spends his day worrying that his nose is too big, he is too skinny or too fat, or that there are a few hairs out of place.
4. Never stop playing. Even my oldest ferret enjoys jumping around on the bed when I make it or chasing me when I run down the hall. I don't think he'll ever stop, and I hope he never does. We always have fun together.
5. Never give up. I have seen ferrets escape locked cages, open closet doors and leap tall things in a single bound because they keep on trying until they succeed.
6. Be curious. Life is an adventure. Never say you don't like something until you try it. My ferrets explore everything and everyplace. They are never bored.
7. Exercise everyday. My ferrets always run around, jump and climb. This keeps them in shape and gives them more energy to have fun.
8. Don't worry so much. Not everything has to be perfect. My ferrets like to tip their bowls, kick the bedding out of the cage, and pull the sheets off the bed. They do no run around straightening everything up all the time. There are other things for them to do - like explore and play.
9. Take a nap daily (if you can). It gives you more energy to play when you wake up.
10. Love unconditionally. My ferrets love each other and my family no matter what. If humans even loved half as much as their animal counterparts, there would be less wars, less divorces and less crime.
So that's it - the secrets to a happier life. All you have to do is live like a ferret
