Just to catch up since I've been gone so long

First of all I've missed everyone, and I look forward to meeting any new members.

Just to kinda recap I got my first 2 ferrets in August of 03 and I fell in love. I soon found myself not being able to say no to anyone needing a home for their ferrets and rather quickly found myself with 15 ferrets~!

Hootie stays with my mom at her apartment, and every week one of my 7 go spend a week at 'club karen'. not that Hootie would get lonely since ALL he does is sleep and eat~! We can't even force him into playing. He weighed less than a pound when I got him and was horribly abused and near dead from starvation, and he makes up for it now. Tops the scale at 4 pounds 4 oz~! He's a butterball, but he's happy.

Sneaker is about to turn 9 in a couple months, but nobodys bothered to tell her that~! She's still the wildest one of the bunch.

Jack just passed away about a month ago, it was very unexpected. I found him curled around the food bowl, still warm. He must have chocked while he was eating. He was my youngest one and it just caught me off guard. All the other ones had been sick prior so I had a chance to prepare.

I'm still with Tony, we just had our 3 year anniversary. Last September I went to DisneyWorld with him and his family it was amazing~! I had the time of my life, but learned quickly how out of shape I was. We had 5 day passes and by day 3 my legs and feet were swollen like sausages and I had a rash crawling up my legs. I spent days 4 & 5 in a wheelchair with Tony pushing me around because my feet were so swollen they were splitting. I went to the Dr.as soon as I got back and I had gained 20 pounds in a week~! After bloodwork and stuff I am now on medication for high blood pressure, high blood sugar, high cholosterol, 2 diuretics, and anti anxiety meds. I feel like I just take pills all day long. I don't want to do that anymore~!

I got laid off my job in January, and I've been doing a Biggest Loser contest since the beginning of January (I stayed in it even though I got laid off) and in 11 weeks I've lost 31 pounds~! Our team is in 1st place and theres only 1 week left. It's gonna come down to the wire. 1st place team splits $1700 4 ways. I feel so much pressure~! Thank goodness it's almost over. 2 weeks ago my boyfriend and I did a 5k for the YMCA, it's the first time in my life I've ever done something like that and it was awesome.

And since I have so much free time now, I'm participating in the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life this year~! When I was born, my mother was found to have ovarian cancer and hadto have a complete hysterectomy, doctors said had i not been born they wouldn't have caught it and she would have been dead within months. I also lost my father to lung cancer. Always working before I never had the time to actually get involved, but I'm excited to do my part, and it's something beneficial to keep me busy until I find a job (lol)

My goodness, Lynlee! You certainly took your weight loss campaign seriously. Congratulations! Not many people could have even begun to keep up with you, gf. Disney World is a blast, isn't it? Especially Epcot Center. I spent 3 days there a few years ago with my daughter, grandson and the rest of her family. It was fun, fun, fun! Your fur kids sound wonderful. Your little 9 y/o girlie is a real winner, being able to get around and expend all that energy when she's up in age so. My Nada was just over 9 y/o when I said goodbye to her, but the last few months she was incontinent and limited to eating, sleeping and a little exercise by running around and under my desk in the ferret room. As for your Butterball, thank you for rescuing him. It's great that he's gained so much weight and is doing so well now. My Ozzie weighed 4 pounds 12 ounces (he's part EU polecat) and I had to quite giving him duck soup 2x a day, as he wouldn't play anymore. Pop in more often Lynlee. We've missee you. Hugs, Greta

Hello everyone, we have been really busy here at the house. Mommy and Daddy both have been ill since I last wrote a note. We also lost a few this past year. Auggiebear, ScoobyDude, Mr Whiskers, Soxy, TweetiePie. It has been difficult just trying to stay up in spirit. We have been looking for homes for our little ones for the last week. Today another ferret lover came to check out Munchkin and Sweetpea. She has experience and I am hoping to get her signed up here. She took both of the girls. Since we are both disabled now we need to move and can not take care of our kids properly anymore. They need more out of cage time and someone who can get down and play. We have decided to keep HarleySan and ScoobyDuece since they are very mature. Hopefully we can find a good home for Scooter, Moki and Diva Diamonds. If not they will go to F.A.C.T. in Ct. and I know they will have great care there. It is sad yet change happens. They are on Petfinders for adoption just in case anyone close by is interested.
