Unfortunately things aren't that good with John right now. He had to go into the hospital a few weeks ago for some tests. When they swabbed his nose they found he was positive for MRSA. When they did it when he was leaving they did it again. They forgot to let us know that he was positive again. This past Thursday some boil-type sores came up on his hand and leg. By Saturday they looked so bad that I took him to the ER. They looked at it and said that it was coming from MRSA but was nothing to worry about. BS!!! MRSA can kill you if left untreated!!! They gave him some wimpy antibiotic and sent him home. This past Wednesday he went to his regulard doctor for a check-up after being hospitalized. Seems like the sores are infection caused by the MRSA. When they did his blood and urine tests they found that not only does he have an intection but that it has caused him to go into acute renal failure. So into the hospital he goes. They've opened both of the really bad places but haven't been able to get them to drain much. They also have him on IV anitbiotics. They are doing a CAT scan today because they are afraid that the infection has spread to the lymph nodes in his lower body. And they may be doing surgery on his leg to cut the large infected place on his leg. Then they'll decide what to do from there. They will probably place a PIC line so that I'll be able to give him IV antibiotics for 2-6 weeks after I bring him home . . . whenever that is. The creatin levels on his kidneys aren't dropping like they should so there is still a chance he'll have to go on dialysis for a while. But his heart is fine!!! A real consolation with all that is going on. Sorry I haved written sooner but the hospital is about 60 miles away and I've been running myself silly these past few days. And to top it all off they are also going to have him tested for Alzheimers!! When it rains it pours. As soon as I find out anything else I'll let you know. He needs all of the help he can get right now.
