NFWS Ferret Show March 8, 2009

Well Spring is here and we went to our first ferret show of the season. We brought everyone except for Twisty who stayed next door with a neighbor for the day recouping still from his op last wednesday.

We had a full car though still with 5 in one carrier, Flick in her own carrier and the whole boys sharing their own... plus assorted bags of stuff required for having a day out with ferrets ...food, water.. bowls and bottles, newspaper to line cages, box to sleep in the big show cage, harnesses should we want to take them out for any walks at the show... etc etc etc...

It was an early morning .. up at 5:30 am and on the road for 3 hours to get to the village hall for booking in at 9 am for a 10 am start.

How we managed to find an empty table to set up is Beyond me!! but we did manage and even ended up right next to a friend we hadn't yet met from another forum... it was lovely to chat with a r person and see so many other familiar faces through out the show..

There were over 400 ferrets entered in the show which is a fabulous turn out this time of the year and every single ferret was in great condition!

Total Train Wreck by the time we got home at 8pm! and a LONG LONG day!! but LOTS of fun.

My gang did us very proud! We were pleased to win ANYTHING with so very many gorgeous ferrets in attendance!

Bella won 3rd place Working Jill

Thyme won 4th place Working Jill

and Sage won 3rd place Working Hob

with over 400 ferrets entered in the show the judges sure had their hands full! and what lovely creatures we had! even the disabled class was a super tight race and they had a very hard time choosing the winners!







There were Rows upon Rows of cages full of ferrety loveliness mostly stacked two deep and under tables as well...

I can't imagine 400 ferrets in one place. You must have been in "ferret heaven" What an experience. I look at your photos. WOW, I can't get over the size of some of those beauties.

OH MY! I would have been extatic to be somewhere with so many ferrets! I think they would have had to drag me out of there!I wish there were shows near me! I would so love to enter Toby and Teddy.Congrats to you and fuzzies!

thanks for the congrats... we did have a great time! i even got to hold a real european polecat.. gorgeous creature!!

Next weekend we're off to a big game fair and another ferret show.. lol i'll be rushed off my feet before september time comes!

Your day sounds so exciting, Lorelei!! 400 ferrets all in one place is incredible. Your fur kids did great with their winnings. What a huge competition they had with so many ferrets in attendance and all of them trying to win. Congratulations!! I once attended a ferret party with my fuzzies when Nada, Cinco, TT and Itty were all in attendance. There must have been 60 or more ferrets there and I thought that was a lot. lol My Ozzie is 37 1/2 % European polecat and it's a challenge keeping his weight at a healthy level for him. He's a beauty too, even though the other portion of his blood line is domestic ferret. You are so fortunate to have these wonderful shows to attend. Your photographs are outstanding!! Hugs, Greta

They are such cuties. We are also going to a show this coming weekend in Providence R.I. For MaFF. It will be fun. Hope to get some good shots of friends.
