;DWell, the girls got a clean bill of health today!! They weighed more than we thought they did. Guess it was because they were so long and slinky. Abby weighs 1.85 lbs and her main problem is that she is too skinny. Everything else checked out great with her. Brandy is also too skinny and weighs 1.25 lbs. Doc estimated Abby to be about two and Brandy to maybe be one. Brandy has a yeast infection in her ears which is not contagious to the others and will be cleared up with Tresaderm. The two drink water constantly. Doc said evidently they didn't get much to drink before they came here. She wants us to sub-q them two times a week for two to three weeks, or until we can tell that they are completely rehydrated the way they need to be. Due to their health they were not able to get their shots but Doc is hoping that will change in a few weeks. All we could get Brandy to eat was soup, and not much of that. Doc couldn't find any reason why she couldn't eat . . . no bad teeth, no mouth or tongue ulcers and no sores in her mouth. Sandi suggested I get some Purina One with Tuna and Salmon. When we got home I filled their food bowl with it and both of them chowed down!!! So now we know that it wasn't Brandy but the food. I will gradually mix this food with the Marshalls and wean her off of cat food!!! I know that I promised pics today but when we go to the vet it is an all day affair. It's 160 miles each way with a lot of road construction along the way. So I PROMISE to get some pics and post them tomorrow.

Did you drive all the way to Winter Haven to the vets? Abby doesn't sound too small for a female but Brandy is a wee one. Glad you figured out the food, but I'm sure you can get her to revert to what you usually use pretty quickly. Sounds like quite a tiring day

We've been using Dr. Vargas for almost 14 years. We used to live in Jacksonville and that added another 1 1/2 hours to the trip. But I don't trust anyone else with my kids. And, yes, it makes for a long day. But it's worth it to have a vet with the knowledge and compassion that Doc has.

It's great news that your two new little girls are in good health, WW. It's no wonder you're tuckered gf, after traveling so far to make sure your babies saw the best vet you know of. Jeepers! I thought the 70 mile one-way trip my son and I drive for a good vet was a lot. But you beat our round trip in just getting to the doctor of your choice, gf. What a great fuzzy mom you are the way you're handling their eating situation. They'll likely be on the Marshalls completely within a couple of weeks. I'm looking forward to the pics when you're able to post them. For now just get rested. Hugs, Greta
