There was a bad car accident here this morning. 2 of the 3 people in the truck were killed. It was 2 brothers and their cousin, headed out for a day of ice fishing. They hit a patch of black ice, lost control, and then rolled over several times. None were wearing their seat belts. 4 of their relatives work where I do, 2 sisters , a brother-in-law, and a niece. The only survivor, one of the brothers, used to work there, too. This family also experienced another tragedy recently. A 2 year old boy in the family died unexpectedly just over a week ago. They still aren't sure what happened with him....he seemed fine, playing and laughing. They put him to bed, and when his dad went to get him up the next morning he had passed away. Please keep this family in your prayers.
This has really hit home for me. While I didn't personally know the 2 people killed, I do know the family members. And I know the survivor from working with him. I urge everyone to please, please, please never get in a vehicle without wearing your seatbelt. At least one of the 2 that was killed would probably still be alive if he had just buckled up. Such a simple little thing, but it really is a matter of life and death. I was always the worst at buckling up until I was involved in a roll over accident. I was thrown from the back seat of my parents minivan into the back hatch with enough force to shatter a rubber maid tote when I landed. I still have problems with my shoulder from that. I was an adult, and should have known better. But since I was in the back seat and it wasn't THE LAW to buckle up, I decided not to. I got off lucky.
