Nahum It was a full session in the mind of Valentine Day. I bought a little red heart basket on the dollar store, took one of my wedding dresses (never get married, it is my stock outfit for photography, that I bought in used stores) Nahum didn't want to stay on the basket. I think this photography is so cute, his little tail still on the basket, even if Nahum was not really happy at this time. But he is sooo really patient ! Finally I have other photographies about this session with Nahum inside the basket Yukka

Oh Yukka! How darling! I wish I could get my girls to lay still to take pictures like that of them. How do you do it, if you don't mind my asking?

Erica, only the patience is the key and also a cooperate furbaby as Nahum. That took time for to have 4 great shots as the one I posted. - First need to play, run, eat before to work as model - place all the decor you need on place - Let the model to explore the new decor you did - Now it is not the time for the photographer to be excited - stay calm on the floor at the same level of the ferret with your camera in hand - place and replace the ferret in your decor, when placed : pet him. - If the ferret lefts the decor, take him very gentle with sweet words and replace him, pet him... again and again. - But NEVER force him, the model must to feel it is a game and not a punishment. However almost of all the best pictures were out the decor. - with a little chance you will be able to take THE picture for a few seconds, and even the model very tired can fall asleep... - Try to use the light of the day, window light and not your flash - The most important is to have fun and to spend pleasant time together. Don't worry Nahum moves too, as all ferrets do And my little Bear moves a lot of more. That need a lot of more patience... and quick finger on the camera Hope that helps ;D Yukka

Haha Yukka! I love the one of Nahum grooming the leg! Too precious! I love the little funny things they do! My little one somehow needed to let me know she didn't have water in her bowl, so she decided to throw it all over the cage! It was adorable

be my valentine large single male sable, pink nose very pronounced mask with a slightly clueless look seeks loving petite single female sable to be cage mates, must love hammocks, vite, and ferretone. litter box experience not necessary, will train. there was once a loving petite female sable ferret that wasn't wanted, so she was abandoned and given up to a shelter where she found herself very lonely, even tho there were other ferrets there at the shelter. she didn't seem to get along with any of the other ferrets, probably because she was heart broken from being abandoned by her original owners. she had only been at the shelter for about a month when this big clueless looking male ferret was brought in to the shelter. he came from a broken home like all the other ferrets in the shelter. but there was something special about this big ferret, well to the little lonely female any how. the little female ferret was being kept in a cage by herself because she didn't really want to have much to do with the other ferrets and when the shelter mom received the big male ferret she needed a place for him to sleep and the females cage was the only available space at the time. so he was placed in the cage with the little female and they first had to smell each other real good then they introduced themselves. she spoke first by saying " my name is olivia", he told her his name was Logan. they spent the next few months together there at the shelter where they grew quite fond of each other. till one day when some people came looking to adopt a ferret and the shelter mom not realizing the bond that had formed between Logan and olivia let the people take Logan home with them, where they gave him a loving home with a new brother and sister. as time went by logans new parents noticed that he seemed a bit lonely even tho he had a new brother and sister. then the petfest came up and the new parents took Logan and his new brother and sister with them to the petfest. the shelter mom there had also brought some of her ferrets with her and one of them was the little girl olivia. when all the ferrets were placed in the big play area to meet each other Logan immediately recognized olivia, and she immediately recognized Logan, they both run up to each other did a lot of smelling each other and hugged ferret style. they played together all the rest of the day there at the petfest; but when it was over and time to go home Logan went home with his new parents and olivia went back to the shelter. the new parents noticed how much Logan seemed to perk up when he was playing with olivia at the petfest and how depressed he seemed afterwards. Logans new parents called the shelter mom and told her what they had observed and the shelter mom had noticed the same in olivia; so Logans new parents went to the shelter and adopted olivia and took her home with them. when they got home with olivia Logan immediately raised his head and sniffed the air. he thought he could smell olivia, he looked around and it was her, he came running out of his hidey hole dooking, olivia seen Logan and she started dooking and they both danced around each other dooking and dancing and smelling each other. Logan had to show her all around there new home. that night they both slept together for the first time since logan had been adopted out from the shelter almost a month ago, that has been almost a year ago and they still sleep and play together. ferrets form strong bonds with each other and there owners, they have been known to starve themselves or just give up and die from a broken heart when seperated.

Rambo each year, at the same symbolic date, you post this wonderful Love Story, and each time I read it I am so touched with tears in my eyes. Logan and Olivia's Story are part of the Spirit of St Valentine. Thank you so much for sharing their story with us. We need to have a remind of what is the true Love.

I love that story also. And how true it is that a ferret can get so attached to another that when they are apart, depression can set in. I almost lost Silveretta that when when Skippy died. She just had no desire to live anymore. But with lots of love and care I had her for another 4 years.
I love that photo of Nahum in the basket, that one is perfecr!!!
