Closing FERRET on proboards

When I first joined Ferret as an MSN group in 1998, it was a very needed site. So many people were new ferret owners and had no idea what to do or where to go. The knowledgeable vets were few and far between and this was one of the places that people could come to in order to find out what was wrong with their ferrets, how they could be treated and numerous other things.

As the years went by Ferret grew and was an extremely active site. We had hundreds of members and the posting board would be hopping.
In 2009, when MSN closed all their groups we moved to Proboards. Many members did not follow, many were afraid of forums or just were not interested anymore. Two of the other co-managers no longer have any ferrets and LAF is still a ferret mom but is so busy working and caring for hers that she has no time to be on line either.

I plan on stepping down as manager/admin if there is anyone who is interested in taking over this site. It has to be done through Proboards Support, so If you are interested either send me a PM here or an e-mail, tell me why etc. and I might need some other infor , but will have to get that from Proboards.

If no one is interested I plan on closing the site for posting on Dec. 31, 2018 at midnight. The boards will remain public as it has always been, but there will be no members joining nor will there be any posting. Information that is here will still be available, though I know as well as you do that googling will get you a lot more in depth information.

It's been 20 years since I joined Ferret, the longest group I have ever been in.
I've enjoyed every moments of it, even those few battles that occurred back in the early 2000's.
I've been really lucky to meet quite a few of you, Lily, Suzie, smokeyoshi, DAR24, VampireFerrets, Ramboferret, dee517, Julie and I know there have been more. Many memories.

I'm still very active on the web as I can be found on DeviantArt www.deviantart.com/huronna or animationlessons.proboards.com

I guess that is about it and I want to thank all of your that have stuck around for many many years.

I am sorry to hear this group is closing. I have learned a lot since I joined years ago. I have had ferrets since 1997 and lost my last one on February 7 2018. I still check in to see if anything is going on. Good bye it was nice meeting some of you.

Dar and I've enjoyed being members, too, as well as meeting you and Dee and her hubby. I'm still a mod on holisticferret60.proboards.com/ and anyone who finds this thread is welcome there. As I said in a previos thread, I was a member of a couple doze ferret groups and all but a couple have faded. I wish you all well.

Sorry to see it goes. alot of bitter sweet memoris of having ferrets and loseing them . I enjooyed reading everyone post. God bless everyone enjoy your fur babies they are not with us for very long. Love and God bless

I can understand why you are closing it. But I am sad to see it go. This is the last tie to the good old MSN Groups days. So many lively discussions then. And the international chat nights. We had a lot of fun! Even a couple groups I belonged to that weren't MSN based are long gone. If anyone is on Facebook, my name is Stacey Lancaster and I'm from Michigan. I belong to a pretty good group on Facebook called Ferrets for Life. Thank you Huronna for doing your best to keep this group going as long as you did!

It seems like quite a few ferrety message boards are falling by the wayside. I'm going to miss this one.

It really saddens me to close after 10 years here on Proboards and at least 10 on MSN.
But there is so much knowledge now easily found on the internet, not like 20 years ago when we had to rely on each others experiences.
We are all getting older and many other outside activities now.
I would come here everyday for months on end and there was no one here.
There always comes a time when one knows it should come to an end.
