Zeus was my last ferret. I said was because he went to the Rainbow Bridge Saturday afternoon. We will miss him so much. Zeus was a every gentle ferret. He was a big boy always over 3 pounds. He acted like a kit until last week when he slowed down.
All he wanted to do was sleep. I checked him over and saw nothing wrong. He was eating and drinking. He had mass cell tumors, but they always responded well to treatment. He stopped eating Saturday he just would not get up and felt cold. I put him and his little tent on the animal heating pad. That warmed him up and he seemed more content. I our ferret vet is not in on the weekend and no one around knows anything about ferrets. I have checked with all the vets in my area none of the do ferrets. changed his coat with every shed I have included pictures. So you can see what I am talking about.
The first picture was taken his first day here in his new home. The second one was taken a few weeks ago

I'm so sorry to hear this, Zeus was a grand boy and lived a long life with you. Much joy and happiness. How often we have said.....this is our last ferret, and then you never know what happens. In our case, along came Powder and Scout. It is much harder for us now, than when we were in our 40's in the 80's . It really is amazing the color changes they go through. We've known each other a long time and even have been lucky enough to meet a few years back. Take care and think of all the wonderful time you had with Zeus

Awww, Dee, we're so sorry. We've been following Zeus for years. I'm almost 60, and 7 is getting to be too much work, but we're not ready to call it quits. I still need my fuzzy fix.
DIP Zeus. It was fun knowing you.

Thank you all for being here. It feels strange, the house seems empty without a ferret. I just gave away 20 plus years of ferret supplies. We had just bought 3 bags of ferret food for the mix and 5 bags of different treats. We filled her jeep to the top. We weren't expecting to loose him so soon. Why do they get sick on the weekend? He seemed so healthy and went down so fast. I know everything will be used. The person I gave the stuff to fosters ferrets for the rescue and was in need of supplies.

Gracie Zoey Heidi, that is exactly why I gave away everything. I knew if I had kept any of it I would have another. This is the second time I lost my "last" ferret. The first time we lost our last ferret, Gracie we were baby sitting for a friends ferret so we had all the stuff we needed for a ferret. I ended up with Zoey the day I went to pick up my Gracie's ashes. The girl that worked at vet's office had one she could not keep. Zeus came to us because he was a big boy at a pet shop and about to be sent back to Marshalls.
