I’m sending this out to all members. So many people have joined over the years but have never even come to say hello. So it is really time to clean up the membership.
Ferret has been around since 1998 when I first joined it while living in Puerto Rico. That's over 20 years. Since then there has been a lot of information that has come to light and many of our vets are now quite knowledgeable regarding Ferrets and their health issues. Many of the old regulars have moved on to other things. the three other assistant managers have not been around in years. I do come and check every day, and there is no movement here.
I have gotten very involved with the graphic community and animations and though I still have two wonderful ferrets because of my age (72) these will probably be my last since I have been owned by ferrets since 1984.
I'm wondering if there is anyone who might have any ideas as to how we can become more active. I am posting this on the board and any member who has not been around in eons, needs to post here or they will be unjoined.
Thanks for all the years of friendship and ferret love

We lost our last ferret in 2016. Missing their antics everyday, but like Huronna, we are at the age where it's time to move on. I was owned by ferrets since February 1994, and it was a very good run. We did rescues too, and had 17 ferrets at our max. Having the chance, I would do it all again.

Hi. I've been a member for a while and I come on every now and then and there never seems much going on and I think it's a shame. Im from Cambridge in the U.K. And I have set up FUN WITH FERRETS. We do ferret racing and ferret agility and a few other things to raise awareness to ferrets, as there are not many people that no much about ferrets other than working them around my area. I have a face book page called fun with ferrets ( please check it out and share ) I also have a youtube channel called lee Farringtons ferrets ( please check it out) and also Flickr lee farrington. I have 9 ferrets at the moment, but ferret math could strike at any time lol. They are loved by me and all the family this is me with cesar

I guess I should have said something about myself. We began with ferrets while living in Puerto Rico in 1984. Never having more than two or three at a time. When We moved to Florida in 2000, I had Rocki and Silveretta and brought them with me. I soon adopted Mika and Mischief and then there were 4. I've never had more than 6 at a time and usually only 2-4. Most of mine have lived to 8-10 years and I have had my share of illnesses.
Rocki has a cancerous kidney removed when he was 6, then became insulinomic. He was with us for another year. Dexie had a cracked canine that would abscess, that's why his owners didn't want him anymore. Dexie had a root canal done by a vet dentist and never abscessed again. He did dies a few years later but of cancer. Frack had a heart attack when she was 7. Fine and playing one minute and ten minutes later gone. Frick her brother at the age of nine had bladder stones, Vet as afraid he wouldn't make it through the anesthesia, I told him it was out only chance and to do his best...and he did. I was able to pick him up at 6 that evening. He lived until he was 10. April had liver cancer, but with loving care and meds, made it to 8. Mac just became old and he too passed at 10.
Each one has memories and my life would not be what it is now if it wasn't for all of them

Lee, I tried googling FUN WITH FERRETS and didn't come up with a web site. If you open up your site on your computer, highlight the url, copy it and then paste it here in the thread we can find it

Hello all. We're still around and live with 7 ferts. I'm still active on another forum (unclejoe, moderator) but I still check in here at least a couple times a week. I just started following Lee on flickr, after we met on the other board. lee if you highlight the address of your page in the address bar, you can right click in it, choose copy, then come here and right click again and select paste to put the copied info into your post. Dar24, my wife has had ferrets since 2006 and I have had them since 2007. We actually met on a ferret website with a chat room. I think we have had 28 ferrets total, all but a couple marshall's, with 1 private bred and 2 Real Canadians.

Hi everyone. Been a member since I can’t remember, it has been that long ago lol.... no longer have the precious little critters around any more. They have all crossed the bridge. I do not come in too.often any more because I get the yen for more that I can no longer, have. I now live with my daughter and,her hubby and not allowed. I do miss my fur babies and have some very loving memories of them. We had our ups and downs but they knew they were loved. I learned a lot here about fuzziebutts and the members helped me get over some rough spots. Huronna coming our, here to Arizona, gosh it has been every year except two, I think, for the last 10 or more years to visit for a week. I always look forward to,her visits and she has become a very good friend. Well that doesn’t include everything to bring you up to date from Arizona, but it will have to do. My iPad has a mind of its own and I am spending a lot of time doing corrections in my typing. Lol

A pop-in to say hello. I have never been owned by one of these fur babies, but my sister had the pleasure of being a ferret mom while living in MO and OR. When she moved back to CA, after the last of her ferrets had passed over the bridge, she went back to having pet rats after she moved back in with me. We are now only owned by dogs after I became involved in K-9 rescue work six-years ago. I have known Huronna for a good number of years through her graphics site. I have been absent from there too, due to devoting so much of my time to the rescue community. I miss working with the graphics so very much and try to pop-in there a couple of times a year. This is going to be a hello and I guess a good-bye, too, as I really have nothing to contribute here as I have no involvement with these precious and adorable creatures. May God Bless them all and all of the members here. Best wishes to all... Cathy aka akatkando

Email from Katrina Hi Huronna.
So glad to get this e-mail from you.
My apartment building had an arson fire in June and I've been in storage, in motels, sleeping in my van, etc. since then, after the medical team was done with me. The building is being rebuilt, but is taking a long time. Housing in this town is very difficult to find. I don't have anyone's e-mail addresses memorized, and no links to web sites. Use a computer rarely at the library.
Please stay around if you can. I'll try to get back when I can. Hoping my computer will still work, but have to do some things to check it out when I can. When I can be on-line again am willing to help if there are things I can do. (still crocheting)
I went to the site, but cannot remember my passwords, so could not check in. If you can do something to keep me on, I'd so appreciate it.
Love, Katrina

Oh how we love our babies, but I realize also there comes a time when they will be our last. Powder and Scout are now 6 and so far are as healthy as can be. If statistic are on the spot they probably will be with us for another 3-4 years, which made me even older than I am now. As we get older it makes it more and more difficult to give them the attention they need and since mine have always been free roamers, harder for me to get on the floor and back up again. But until that time, they are still my babies and I love them dearly Good to see everyone.
