Sorry I have been MIA, hubby had first of two back surgeries on the 12th and was supposed to have the second one on the 15th, but due to some complications the second surgery was postponed until this Thursday. He's been in Neuro-ICU since the surgery, not life threatening, but the surgery was 13 hours long and he's gotten 7 units of blood and platelet packs, blood pressure had to be regulated as it kept dropping. He finally took a few steps yesterday with the aid of PT and today OT was there working with him also. It's going to be a very long haul. I'll check in when I can

He had the second surgery on the 22nd June. He is now in rehab and very slowly making progress. He still cannot walk unassisted, up he is now able to eat without help. PT! OT, and ST are really helping. They say that if he keeps improving at the same pace he may come home in two weeks . I will probably hire help on the days that I work because already I am exhausted from spending so much time T the hospital

Joe was released from rehab on the 14th and now is home with Home care. They send a nurse twice a week to do his PT/INR. Pt and OT three times a week. I'm off until MOnday and very slowly he is gaining some strength in his legs. Still very weak though. To say the least I have been busy and still pretty tired myself.....but we'll get there

I'm happy to hear that your husband is home. I think you could use some time to relax. I am sure you are exhausted. I mean taking care of your home, your ferrets, your job and visiting your husband in the hospital must have taken its toll. Please get as much rest as you can before you end up needing care.

he was release July 14 to home and is having rehab at home. I thought this would be easier, but boy was I ever wrong. Every strange sound makes me alert to what he needs or is doing. Things are progressing, and he now can walk for 15 minutes using the walker, but it is still extremely difficult for him to get from the sitting position to standing or lying in bed to sitting and then standing. We are working on it though

I am sure by now you are totally exhausted. Please take some time to relax even if you need to have someone come in for a few hours so you can do whatever you want to do. Even if it is just to take a long hot bath and then a nap. Life can be very hard for the caregiver. Please take care of yourself.
