I took the lab final, which I failed last November and I've been waiting this long to take again, on Tuesday and I passed!! The written final is tomorrow. I got a high B on it last year. Technically, I can fail that and pass the course, but that ain't gonna happen. So finally, my coursework is done, and there's nothing left but 2 8-week fieldwork rotations and 1 online assignment.
My first rotation in January is at a community based mental health facility. I can't wait. Not my chosen field, but it's all good.

Thursday I finished my first 8-week Level II internship. I was working at a place that assists inner city (Orlando) homeless and impoverished individuals and families. While it was not Occupational Therapy per se, and the drive from my home to downtown O'Town was a royal PITA (the 58 mile drive down I-4 took 90 minutes on a good day), it was rewarding work and I'm not sorry I was there. I worked with some great social workers and volunteers. I helped assess the needs of new clients and directed them to resources they could use and referred them to case managers. I jut hope I can make it look good on my resume. My next rotation starts this week. It will be real OT at a nursing home/rehab 7 MILES from my house. Woohoo! I've already spoken to the rehab director and she sounds nice and she says while it can get busy it's pretty laid back and I will have time to work up to a respectable case load. I gotta do good here. Graduation is May 18! I started taking remedial classes at this college in Jan 2009. What a long, strange trip it's been.

Sorry, Heidi, but I have tentatively accepted a job in northeast Tennessee! the starting pay will be slightly more than I was making when i left my rocket mechanic job at The Cape lo these 10 years ago. 10 years ago this month, in fact. Plus, they are paying our moving expenses! It will be the first time in all that time that I took a new job for more money instead of less, lol, and will be my highest paying job ever, to start. 5, actually 8 years of struggle is about to finally start paying off. Darlene and I are ecstatic. Gonna call about a couple rental houses tomorrow. Hope to get one for a little more than we pay for lot rent, on a big corner lot with a basement and another 300 sq ft of living space.
I'll be working in a nursing home rehab, which is what I most wanted to do. They have 3 facilities in the area and I may get to move around to fill in.
we have a lot to do. I start in 4 weeks. updates to come!

Fantastic! i am really happy for you. Sorry it took me so long to read this as I am up in NJ for a couple of days. Your job sounds great and the fact they are paying your moving expenses is even better. You will be an asset to their organization. Dont forget to keep in touch with us and let us know how everything is going

We may be leaving Florida, but we'll still be addicted to ferrets!

We found a house in the country, across the road from a cornfield. Only 4 houses on the 1/4 mile road. All hardwood and tile, 2 bed 2 full baths 2 tubs! big lot. perfect for the dog and ferrets. Only about 1/2 hour from work, but our TN ferret friends tell us 1/2 hour isn't much in TN.

All hardwood and tile.....a definite yes for that!
When are you moving and when does your job start. Hope that Dar can find something good in that area also

L-12 days and counting. Truck is rented from the 27th to 31st. We plan to leave 4 AM-ish on the 28th. It's about a 9 hour drive. We have a dolly for the car and the ferrets will have to be in it. If I don't like the way the exhaust on the truck is in relation to the car, I'm not sure what we'll do. Obviously we don't want the car filled with fumes. If it starts to get to warm later in the day, we'll unhook the car and Dar will drive the rest of the way.
We'll call about getting internet and tv set up this week. We can only get Centurylink DSL, but internet and Directv second tier costs the same as Brighthouse net only does here. Speeds may be a little slower than BH claims, but lately they've been throttling between awesome and dial-up speeds. The only thing that irks me is you have to get a 2 year contract for Dish. If anyone has Directv and doesn't like it, let me know.

We had Direct TV for a few years (before FIOS came into the area. The only problem we had was when the plants grew in front of the dish. It was on the side of the house where the elephant ear philodendron were. Wehn they got too tall, and in front, the TV picture would pixelate..... but we'd just go outside and trim off the leaf. They started at a reasonable price, but then kept raising it and raising it. Then when we canceled it, they would send us all these wonderful offers. But we already were addicted to FIOS

What's FIOS? The centurylink lady said she's in MO and didn't have any problems during all the heavy rain they had this spring, but what's she gonna say? I just don't like the 2 year commitment. If we move into town where there is cable we're either stuck with dish or pay the ETF. And now we have a tropical storm that, if it comes this way, will do so right about moving day. www.boatus.com/hurricanes/tracking.asp?storm=danny&year=2015#.VdUXpPlVikp
