Well it's been a couple of weeks since he had his Lupron shot and I don't see the arrival of even one little hair. But his activity level sure has changed. He's up with the young-uns and he even climbed up the ramp to the bed four times yesterday. Twice I found him sleeping under the bedspread with his head on the pillow. So cute. Anyway he is doing good, still a very fat belly that needs drying after peeing I can't complain about my "old man" they should all have this good "winter of their years"

Yup, Mac is a spoiled senior. I've only used lupron on 1 ferret, Moe, and he was close to bald by the time I found a vet that could get it. He was on oral melatonin for a month and had just started sprouting peach fuzz when he got the depot, but then his fur came in quickly, and he was back to his full, lush fuzzy self in a month.

Merlin's fur is coming in for winter after his des implant. He's gained weight also. At least I won't have to get him a sweater.

I am glad Mac is responding well to his implant. I love all my ferrets too. I think seniors are the best. They are usually a bit more mellow so you can hold them for a minute or two. I have only Zoey age 6 and Zeus age 4 now. I guess Zoey is considered a senior, but don't tell her. Both of them get liquid Melatonin daily. Zoey just got her Des implant last Wednesday so no coat change as of yet. Zeus is changing coat colors again. It looks like he may be going panda this winter. We will have to wait and see. The first picture is from 3 years ago the second it from this summer.

I wish pandas would stay pandas. Prissy looked like Zeus when she was young but now she only has a few dark guard hairs. I think kahlua was darer too, but she was all white when she passed. I checked the virbac website today and it says the next des shipment is still set for late November. I wonder if you have to get on a waiting list.

Our Zeus went from panda to completely cream color. He is changing colors again and when the change is complete we will know what color he is. I am always so afraid one of them will get out and that is one of the reasons I take new pictures. Putting up a picture of a panda when a cream colored ferret is lost is not going to be a lot of help.
Our vet had only two Des implants available. We were lucky he saved one for us. It was a two hour trip but worth it. When we got there, two days after he said he had two implants left, the only one left was the one he had saved for us. He said they told him there would be no more available until late November. I don't know about your vet, but ours does have a waiting list.

I will be calling our vet this week to ask about the des. Jaffa needs one, so if there is a waiting list (unlikely) he'll get on it. His last one came through another vet, and he might have a waiting list.
