Dar has been waiting to find a ferret with a reputation for being a cuddler that needed a new home. Yesterday we welcomed Lola into the business. She has already lived up to her rep, sleeping on Dar's lap for a couple hours last night. She's a little shy around the others, not having lived with other ferrets since the store, but she is getting along. Only Yoshi is a problem, just like he was with Rosa, but it's easy enough to keep them apart. For now she has her own cage until she gets settled. She is soooooo soft. We're already in love with her. We were thinking about changing her name but she already knows hers.

She looks like Scout when we first got him, before he muscled up. There is nothing like a lap ferret to make a person happy. Just having them sleep in your arms...nothing like it Congrats!

She's already eating soupies. And yesterday she had a few treats, but hasn't taken to NBones. We're going to try a few different natural, meat based treats over the next few months. This is her lighter side. Her left legs are darker, and hre rear leg is really dark. Here she is cuddling, Dar is just holding her so she doesn't slide off. She's actually sleeping. This is Day 1

Things aren't going so great. Yoshi has been a pain, which we sort of expected, but Lola has had issues with both Pandy and Abita as well. Pandy was the first to accept Rosa. I know it's been less than 2 weeks, and some of it may be Lola not knowing ferret language, like Rosa. When she's around other ferrets she moves rally slowly. Dar said it's like an opossum, and she's right. so Lola is still in her own cage

With so many ferrets, I'm surprised they ever noticed a newbie. I'm sure things will work out, it's rare that they don't. In all the years that I have had ferrets, since 1984, there has only been one time that I had to keep two separated. That was Clyde and Silveretta. Clyde died at 3 with aggressive juvenile lymphoma which maybe was causing him discomfort and Silveretta was an old lady who only ate baby food, so maybe it was the smell of chicken. But for two years we played musical ferrets, letting Clyde with the other 4 and Then silveretta mixing a matching. One time we switched the wrong ferrets and boy Clydewent right for her. Luckily I was there to snatch and rescue her right away.

Oh, I'm not giving up. We never ever thought Prissy and Jaffa would give up trying to kill each other. Or Prissy and anyone, lol. Now she only gets upset if someone tries to invasde her space while she's sleeping. Of course, going blind kind of killed her hunting ability. And now that Lola is here, Yoshi is leaving Rosa alone. It's just upsetting that Pandy and Abita were the first to accept Rosa. She never really had problems with either of them. We've put Alice in Lola's cage a couple times without incident, but Alice wants out whenever she wakes up. And the other thing is that Lola is Ms. Mellow compared to Rosa. It was Rosa that got in anyone's face when they tried to say hello. It could be that Lola ACTS submissive. When she's around others, she goes into slow mode, like a possum, as I said. No worries. We've been here before and we'll work it out.

Things have been getting better, slowly. Yoshi can still be a b*st*rd to Lola, but Lola is now holding her own against Abita, Rosa and Pandora. Pandora hasn't pestered her for a couple days. I also noticed that Smokie only ever seemed to be defending himself against Lola's attempts at play, so we've been caging Smoke and Alice with her. Alice has never had a problem with Lola, and Smoke is a gentleman. Voila. Yoshi seems to be more aggressive before he's had his soupies, lol.

I had the day off so I put ferts in the ferret nation and left the levels open. I was THRILLED to find Lola and Yoshi sleeping together! There is hope! Those are yawns, not bites you see.

They can still get into it outside the cage, but they've been good in the cage for a couple days now. Sometimes it's Lola getting into someone else's bed...

Finally got to the beach Tuesday night. Lola's former ferrent said she loved walks and car rides, and she does. We've never had her out on a leash before, but she was the best. She mostly went in the direction we wanted, and mostly in a straight line. Of course we let her explore the dune vegetation. She likes water, but we didn't let her in the surf because it was dark and we didn't want to have to bathe her to get the salt out. Maybe some time later. So we walked maybe 50 yards in each direction away from the dune crossover boardwalk, and she decided to turn around and go back. Both times she found her way right back to the steps. We put her in a tote bag and walked maybe 1/4 mile and took her out to walk back. When it was time to go home, we took her up the steps and let her walk the boardwalk, and she went right back to the car. She was so good.

It sounds like Lola is a real gem! I am sure she will eventually get along with the rest of your business. It took our Scarlet 3 months before she would tolerate Gracie. Just never give up. Lola sure sounds like a people ferret and a real little dream come true.

Yeah she love her hoomans. Dar tries to get her out in the dewy grass every morning and she goes nuts dookin dancin and jumpin up so dar can catch her. If Yoshi would leave her alone things might get better. Once he gets her wound up she's less accepting of attention from the others.

Love those photos on the sane. She is so fat and fluffy, just adorable Someone in another board started using the word fluffy instead of fat so her youngest wouldn't slip and call a Hooman fat in public. Lol. In that case Pandy is "fluffy."
